Dear Cousins: Please be mindful when posting a reply to cut your message to only what you are typing. There is no need to include the prior message(s) in your reply as we have all received them... and can also look them up in the archives, if need be. The exception would be if you are replying to a very old message. In that instance, please only include what may be necessary to understand your message. The trend lately has been to reply and quote all the previously stated data and not cut the old messages off. This results in the digests being difficult to understand, the archives being filled with repeated information and an unnecessary burden on the server. A recent message had a 3 word reply and a signature, and quoted 6 prior messages, with footers for all repeated over and over and over again. (I only use this as an example, not meaning to put anyone on the hot seat!) If you are a quoter of the prior message that quotes prior messages, don't be surprised if the server kicks your message back for being "too large". If your reply was brief, this may confuse you. However, that is what excessive quoting leads to and it is on the rise. Those of us with GMAIL accounts need to be particularly aware ... we must reveal the hidden text and delete the unnecessary. [That includes me! lol I don't always remember either.] I am glad to see you all interacting and some real progress being made. Keep those emails coming -- fast and furious as you choose. Just slow down a bit to review what you have written and delete the extraneous prior messages and footers. Yours Aye, Lauren Boyd List Admin Rootsweb Volunteer since 1996
