    3. Hi Dianna, I hesitate to write this because it might not have anything to do with your Boyds. I have an ancestor whose name is Levi Boyd McCreight who was born in South Carolina, possibly Fairfield or Chester county, in 1830. According to family history his mother died sometime after his birth and his father, David McCreight, remarried in 1834. Levi Boyd is a name that was carried on in his line. I have not found his mother's name but neither Levi or Boyd is part of the ancestry of his father. I think Monroe county is on the border of NC and I see your Hannah Clayton was born in SC so you might try the Carolinas. At that time the borders of those states were in a state of flux and counties were also changing boundaries. Please let us know how your search goes! 3. Dee, Interesting that you brought that up as I have wondered if LEVI JORDAN BOYD was adopted since no documents can be found to tie him to any BOYD family, thus far. Perhaps I am wrong for focusing on this but the Jordan name seems pertinent. Working late last night I came across the Old District 96, South Carolina 1779 census record with the following BOYDS: B300 BOYD Hugh 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. B300 BOYD James 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. B300 BOYD John 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. B300 BOYD Tobert 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. B300 BOYD William 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. Also listed are 2 JORDANS: J635 JORDAN Adam 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. J635 JORDAN Thomas 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. LEVI J.BOYD also had a son named PERRY and 2 surnames are listed: P600 PERRY John 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. P600 PERRY Thomas 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. Another one of LEVI J. BOYD's sons was named WILEY and 2 "WYLLY"s are listed: W400 WYLLY David 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. W400 WYLLY Henry 1779 Old 96th D SC No Twp. Probably a stretch on the PERRY & WYLLY lines but I'm including it. Jordans, Boyds and Avans (Avans were from Greenville/Spartanburg,SC) are all found in Monroe Cty, TN. The following court case interests me because LEVI's daughter, ELIZABETH BOYD, married F.M. AVANS. Also, note WYLY or WILEY JORDAN: No.305) O. Bill Filed 5 Feb. 1845 *John Avans*, Admr. of T. Jordan vs Anderson, *Wyly* & John Jordan, Dialthy Wayne, Caroline Wilson Jordan, Elizabeth Fritz & Isham Fritz. *John Avans of Monroe Co*. Heirs of Thomas Gordon: Anderson Jourdan of Georgia. W*iley Jourdan*, John Jourdan, Dialthy Wayne, and Caroline Jourdan of Polk Co. Tenn. Wilson T. Jourdan of McMinn Co. Tenn. Elizabeth Jourdan and her husband Isham Fritz of Roane Co. (Wiley,John and Dialthy Wayne are non residents) *Thomas Jourdan owned 160 acres in Monroe Co*. on the waters of Rocky Creek adjoining lands of John Cox & others Adms. needs to sell land to pay debts. Any thoughts?
