Hi Mike, This is Brian Boyd of Australia's line. He posted his extensive line on this list in 2003 under the following title: Subject: [BOYD] Fw: Boyd surname: re Ancient Boyds of the Roxburgh, Berwickshire, Borders Area of Scotland and later of Hull in England Date: Sun, 7 Dec 2003 10:58:57 +1100 We are hoping to one day find a connection to this line as they were living in the same areas as my husband's Boyd ancestors, but we haven't found a link yet. List I forgot to add that the Scottish Border area is one of 8 Regions outside of Ayrshire where Boyd families settled in Scotland in "large numbers". At this time, I AM NOT SURE WHEN THE BOYDS WENT TO THE BORDERS. The other problem is from which direction did they come. It is know that Robert the Bruce gave the Head of the Clan lands in 1306 in Dumfries and other Galloway areas. So did these "over time" move further east into the Borders. Or as is the case of Yolander's husband's family, THEY SEEM TO HAVE MOVED FROM NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND to be back across the Border in Scotland. It is known that the First Lord Robert Boyd fled Scotland in 1469 to go to Alnwick England. I have an scroll from Dean Castle that says that this Lord Boyd' youngest son Adam Boyd, who was cited as having been born in 1460, appears to have gone with him about 1490's after his second marriage moved to the Leeds area. However, we do not know if Lord Boyd took any other family "members" with him or any Boyd servants or relatives. So at this stage, it can't be said with any certainty, if the many Boyds in the 6 northern Counties of England ALL STEM FROM ADAM BOYD - said youngest son of Lord Boyd. So those Boyds that do have family in the Scottish Border area - especially those that can go back past 1800 - please let the list know about your Borders family.
