> I too am searching for the father of my first direct Boyd ancestor. I am descended from John Boyd from Bellemana, Ireland who came to America between 1760 & 1770 and settled in the Newberry District, the ninety-six district. He died in 1806, but I know no more on his birth, wife's name, or his parent's name. He had two sons John Jr. b.?, d. 1827 Newberry District, m. Margaret Wilson, and other son David m. Eleanor Crosson, daug. of Capt. Thomas Crosson, a prominent Irish settler of Virginia. Other son of John Boyd died in 1799, Hugh. Does anyone out there no anything about the ancestory of this John Boyd? I am a descendant of the him through my grandmother: Nannie E. Mike, Just yesterday: Date: Thu, Aug 18, 2011 11:09 am Your assistance is appreciated. I am looking closely at the possibility of Archibald Boyd, intestate 1799, as David's natural father and a possible relation to Robert Boyd, S.C. Council Journal, 22 June 1767, and Abbeville Surrogate Court for Robert Boyd of Long Canes death 21 June 1779. This places this group of Boyds near the Stewarts on Long Canes where I feel David's step-father John Stewart lived. Best regards.
