Boy are we getting close to home with all these John Boyds! My first direct Boyd ancestor (John) was supposedly born around 1770/1780 in or around Abbeville (Old Ninety Six Dist.), South Carolina. I'm looking for HIS father who I suspect was named John, Robert or Alexander (since those names repeat through the next few generations. My John Boyd married "Eleanor" (maiden name unknown) around 1801 and died around 1836. John's estate settlement included the following info: BOYD, John Est. admr. Sept 12, 1836, by Wm. Campbell, Joseph Hughey, Thos. J. Foster bound to Moses Taggart Ord. Abbeville Dist. Sum $2,000.00. Cit. Pub. at Mt. Moriah Church. Settlement Hugh, Wm., Jno. Boyd out of the state. Elener Boyd wid. Ebenezer, A.P. (Alexander), Hannah, Jane, Robt., Adam Boyd. The youngest son, Adam, died young and his estate settlement included the following: BOYD, Adam On Dec. 7, 1838 Hugh Boyd, Wm. Campbell, Jefferson Hughey bound to Moses Taggart Ord. Abbeville Dist. Sum $5,000.00. Hugh Boyd made gdn, Adam Boyd a minor. Sett. of Adam Boyd a decd. minor made Nov. 11, 1845. Present, Hugh Boyd. Left as his distributes, mother Elenor Boyd. Brother, Hugh Boyd his gdn. Robt. Boyd, Hannah who married Wm. Malone. Martha H. who married Major Wm. Campbell. Jane not in the state, Jno. B. (John B.), Wm. H., Alexr. Ebenezer Boyd. Jno. (John) Boyd decd. was the father. Had land in Georgia. It certainly feels like we're all related somehow--just wish we could figure out how! I have no idea who my John's siblings were, much less his parents. I've been to Abbeville and the SC Archives in Columbia but found no more than I found on Ancestry.com and in my local LDS library. Please stay in touch in case something shakes loose in the future! Darlene Amark fairwinds@earthlink.net kings@wtxs.net wrote: >>I too am searching for the father of my first direct Boyd ancestor.
