I'm lucky enough to have several Boyd lines. The John Boyd of Newberry, S.C., who you mention was one of my Boyd lines. John Boyd Jr. and wife Margaret Wil(l)son were my ancestors. George Leland Summer's book just calls her Margaret on p.198 and gives a blank for her maiden name. It is at googlebooks, in case this link doesn't work: http://books.google.com/books?id=Er8JVErXNbYC&pg=PA197&dq=%22George+leland+summer%22,+%22Boyds+were+a+wide%22&hl=en&ei=q4BNTtWxLImutwfQ_fGsBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCoQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false see also http://www.thecitizen.com/archive/finding%20your%20folks/fyf2002/fyf020913.html http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BOYD/2005-06/1117758435 http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BOYD/2005-06/1117777513 My father descended through John Boyd Jr. and Margaret Willson's daughter Jane Boyd who married Rev. Nathaniel Hall. They moved to Pulaski Co., Kentucky, for awhile and had some interaction with a JAMES BOYD from Bedford Co., VA., relationship unknown. I have wondered for years about the James Boyd "of Bedford Co., VA.," who witnessed the indenture of John Boyd Jr. and wife Margaret Willson (from Newberry, S.C.) in Pulaski Co., Ky. I still don't know who this James Boyd was, or any connection to our Boyds, but Mike mentions it here: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BOYD/2005-06/1117690812 and http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BOYD/2005-11/1132395430 It's interesting that other Boyd families of the Newberry, S.C., area all claim to have come from Ballymena or Bellemena, though I don't know if they have proof of that or not. Our John Boyd Sr. is said to be identified in the original records throughout his life as John Boyd from Bellemena. Some say his wife was Margaret Fenn or Senn. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=gulfcoastgal&id=I392 http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=PED&db=gulfcoastgal&id=I392&style=TABLE Others say his wife was a Mary Cason. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mavant-roth&id=I31071 I don't know where these names come from.
