    1. Re: [BOYD] John Montgomery Boyd was Newberry to Meriwether Boyds - Boyd, AL Cemetery
    2. Mike Boyd
    3. Rhonda In the family of Hugh Boyd of Newberry Co., SC (ch 6/332) - whose family later moved to Sumter Co., AL - I have this entry:- W7 John Montgomery Boyd, b / /1816 ( , Newberry District, SC), d / /1880 ( ), died after 1880 in Texas, bu , town, county, Texas?, m 20/1/1837 (Church, town, Sumter Co., AL), Louisa Jane Moore, dau of Robert K and Theodosia (Ladocia) (nee Hamilton) Moore, b / /1823 (town, Greene Co.?, AL), d / /18xx ( , AL?), bu , AL?, and had issue:- m 2ndly 26/12/1867 (Church, town, Sumter Co., AL), Louisa L Holm, dau of and (nee ) Holm, b / /1823 ( town, county, state), d / /18xx ( ), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: , Texas ] [NEED FOOTNOTE # 10, 11, 12, & 13 FROM MARTHA] For Ladocia Hamilton's links to the Boyds, see Chapter 6/333. From E-mail from Charles Boyd of 18 July 2002 (see 6-334.doc) said that John Montgomery Boyd was married to Louisa Jane Moore was on 30 June 1838. Which is correct? In an Email to BOYD-L@rootsweb on 22 April 2004, Rhonda Raye, provided the following:- "This was written by an unknown ancestor:- John M Boyd born July 12, 1816 Louisa Jane Moore born Oct 18, 1823" This would give the dates of birth for both John and Louisa. It went onto say that John died 19 July 1884 but did not say where. I assume from the above comments that he died in Texas. From the dates of the children >From Judy Blaydoe's Email of 19 July 2002 to Mike Boyd, she said that John Clay Boyd (X4) father was "John Montgomery Boyd III b: 1816 in Abbeville Co, SC" and mother was "Louisa Jane Moore b: 1823 in Sumter Co., AL". [NOTE the different location for JMB's birth - Abbeville Co., SC and the use of "III" >From the above family and that outlined in Ch 6/334, W7 could not be the third John Montgomery Boyd. However he could be the third John Boyd, with V2 being the second and his grandfather (see ch 6/334 - T1?) being the third. Also note the different location for where Louisa Moore was born - Judy has Sumter Co, while Martha has Greene Co., AL] - Details, Lived in Sumter Co., AL until 18??, then moved to ???? County, Texas. He was a farmer. It would appear that Louisa Moore died in Sumter Co., AL, sometime between 1859 and 1869, as John's first child by his second wife was born in Sumter Co. AL in 1874. [need to look for Cemeteries near their farm to see if she can be found along with date of death. She might have died in 1861 during childbirth? ] Martha Stewart said in 1998 [see letter CB98103 ] that this John came to Sumter Co., AL in 1828. As he would have been only 12 years old, one would assume that he came with his parents. Therefore need to look at 1830 US Census for Sumter Co., AL to see what Boyds are also recorded in the Census. NEED TO SEE IF Mortuary Records FOR SUMTER CO ARE AVAILABLE. BOTH FOR NEAR THE FARM HE HAD AND IS SAID TO HAVE LOST AND WHERE HE IS LOCATED ON THE 1880 CENSUS OR ANY OTHER LOCATION BESIDES THE FARM. Sara Allen in an E-mail of 21 July 2002 said that she believed "Jane Dial (V2 above) brother John Dial married a Mary Montgomery. Both of their sons David Montgomery" [I HAVE ASKED SARA IF THE "DAVID" SHOULD BE JOHN ] 27/7/2002 However, I can't answer you question if there are two John Montgomery Boyd's in this Cemetery for you. I do recall that at Stone Mountain Games at Altantia, last year, I meet a lady who was part of this family (and I think came from this area). So can anyone on the list do a "look up" or know if there are two John Montgomery Boyd's buried there?
