    3. James Boyd of Bedford co., VA., who witnessed an indenture of John Boyd, Jr and Margaret Willson (Wilson) (from Newberry, S.C.) in Pulaski Co., KY. -- I have mislaid the date of that indenture. But according to "The Boyds of Boyds Tank" p. 24, James Boyd who came to Pulaski c1806-12 (married Mildred Moody) was the son of Robert Boyd of Pennsylvania. see http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BOYD/2004-06/1087460608 This indicates James Boyd's dates as c1750-1812. This posting says that this James Boyd was b. 1735 Scotland, the son of a Robert Boyd b.1705, and grandson of James Boyd b.1675 Scotland, no proof cited: http://genforum.genealogy.com/boyd/messages/6955.html > From: isbell2@hotmail.com > To: boyd@rootsweb.com > Date: Fri, 19 Aug 2011 01:38:49 +0000 > Subject: Re: [BOYD] John Boyd of South Carolina > > > I'm lucky enough to have several Boyd lines. > > The John Boyd of Newberry, S.C., who you mention was one of my Boyd lines. War pension application of one Robert Boyd, here: http://www.southerncampaign.org/pen/r1092.pdf Would this Robert Boyd of SC and VA possibly connect to this family?  I do not have much information on him, but his location of Russell Co., VA, piqued my interest.  I wondered, and have not really determined, whether he connected to my Boyds there.  Michelle Treasurer, HBS NC State Historian, HBS #1266F ~ If you are interested in joining the House of Boyd Society, the application is available at http://www.clanboyd.org/joinus.shtml ________________________________ From: Ray Isbell <isbell2@hotmail.com> To: boyd@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, August 18, 2011 11:20:08 PM Subject: Re: [BOYD] John Boyd of South Carolina James Boyd of Bedford co., VA., who witnessed an indenture of John Boyd, Jr and Margaret Willson (Wilson) (from Newberry, S.C.) in Pulaski Co., KY. -- I have mislaid the date of that indenture.  But according to "The Boyds of Boyds Tank" p. 24, James Boyd who came to Pulaski c1806-12 (married Mildred Moody) was the son of Robert Boyd of Pennsylvania. see http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BOYD/2004-06/1087460608 This indicates James Boyd's dates as c1750-1812. 3. I don't know if Robert of S.C. and Virginia was connected to the Newberry, S.C. Boyds or not. More interesting to me, however, is the reference by Col. Bratton in 1783 calling him "Sir Robert Boid." Although they acquired a large amount of land and in two or three generations produced several notable citizens, the first couple of Boyd generations in Newberry would appear to be mostly yeomen, with names like "Waggoner Jack" Boyd (the wheelwright) and "Johnny Buckles" Boyd (the harness maker). On that basis, I would think it less likely that "Sir" Robert Boyd was very closely related. > Date: Fri, 19 Aug 2011 07:09:43 -0700 > From: mich9118@bellsouth.net > To: boyd@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [BOYD] John Boyd of South Carolina > > Please see Rev.
