I am not sure if this query from 1999 might be the father of your Joseph Thornton Boyd:- I'm new to the List. and looking for my 4ggrandfather, JOSEPH THRONTON BOYD, b. 26 Appril 1781 in Chambersburg, Franklin Col., PPA. Jos. was the son of ROBERT BOYD b. ca 1750 in Delaware, and MARTHA THRONTON, also of Delware. Sometimes ROBERT is referred to as "Colonel" and was suppose to have been prominent in the New Castle area of Delaware. JOSEPH THORNTON BOYD settled in New Castle, Lawrence Co, PA in 1806 and was a prosperous merchant. He married MARTHA (no last name) and had a passel of kids: MARIA b. ca 1820 who married JOHN GEMMILL; MATILDA, who m. a BARD and settled in Allegheny Co.; ROBERT; JOSEPH; AMANDA; MARGARETTA; LOUISA; etc. He died in 1 March 1868 in New Castle, Lawrence Co. PA; his wife MARGARET died in New Castle 28 June 1865. Any and all information anyone can provide much appreciated.
