Before the AGM on 16 or 17 April 2011 at Las Vegas, I would like to be able to appoint more State Historians in both the USA and Canada. In the USA, I would like to build on the State Historians that we have in CT, PA, MD, NC, SC and VA. So I am looking at States like:- Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee Kentucky, Indiana Ohio and West Virginia While in Canada Provinces like British Colombia, Ontario and perhaps Nova Scotia. The Role for an State Historian is work with a State Convenor and are:- (i) To advertise on the various County Net list about the Boyd Net list and the House of Boyd as a place to do your research for outside the County; to follow migration trails and to be able to fit into known Boyd families; (ii) To ask the Boyd list who has what family in each County within the State and maintain a list of such Boyd families; (iii) Work out when the first Boyd came to the State; (iv) To collect people researching Boyd families from FHS and other published lists; (v) Work with Chairman of Historical Committee to build some knowledge of Boyd families within the State; (vi) Linking with other Clans Associated with Boyd connections; (vii) Collect and maintain a list of Books on Boyd families or Boyd references; (viii) To work with Historical Committee, to put Boyd families into Clan Boyd of Scotland to build the Clan Pyramid; (ix) In some US States it may be necessary organise County Boyd Historians because of the number of Boyd families in that County or group of Counties. (such as in PA and VA) (x) Other History/Tree? So if you have a hour or two a week that you can give to helping to build up interest, and knowledge about Clan Boyd and its members, I would like to hear from you please. I could talk to you more about this role at Las Vegas, Greensboro or perhaps one of the other venues that I will be talking at. This will allow me to get on with about 20 other major Boyd Projects.
