    1. [BOYD] Another brick wall re-visited
    2. Bill Boyd
    3. Here is my brick wall that I've been picking at for a long time concerning James & Nancy Boyd. They were married in 1822 in Carroll Co, Ohio, had a son, Thomas Oliver Boyd, born on Jan 13, 1828 in Leesville, Carroll Co and then they died six months later in Carroll Co. I know that Carroll Co wasn't organized until 1833, but there was once a Leesburg in Tuscarawas County and that part of that county was used to form the part of Carroll that has Leesville. There is also a record that shows James' death date as 1823 but this cannot be! Thomas Boyd's birth date is well established and supported by census records for 1850, 1860, 1880 & 1900. So I am confidant that he was born on Jan 13 1828 and so James could not have died on 1823. Incidently I have seen part of a letter that indicates that James & Nancy died of pneumonia, a day apart, and they are buried in a common grave- site unknown. Thomas was brought up by Archibald Elliott and the 1830 census seems to bear this out, not by name but by ages of the household, which was located in Union, Harrison, Ohio. When Thomas was about 13 he left the Archibald homein 1841 and worked for a number of farmers in the area until 1844, when he entered into a five year contract with David Capper. David Capper appears on the same census sheets as Archibald Elliott so they miust have been neighbors. They were also related as David took Mary Elliott as his wife when his first wife, Hannah, died. They were married Jan 1828, the same month & year as Thomas' birth. So, were Mary Elliott & Nancy Elliott sisters and daughters of Archibald Elliott? Census for Archibald shows he had girls in the household that were of age. Did James own land or was he and his wife still living with his parents? Who were his parents? By the way I did locate a landowner James Boyd in Tuscarawas County, but have no idea if he is "my James". Any ideas? Anybody?? Bill Boyd
