I received an query yesterday which listed it source as "the 1836 Michigan Mixed Blood Census". It provides us with a new family that did not appear to be known to previous writers on this family. This is the first time that I have heard of such an source. The older list members will recall various references with Boyds and Indian Tribes. We do not seem to any references for a while. So does this only apply to Michigan or did other US States also provide such sources? Where any such listed ever compiled for the Canadian Proivinces? Thank you. Mike Boyd Historical Committee, HBS
In this particular case the census was made as a result of a treaty provision: http://www.mifamilyhistory.org/mimack/native_american/1836treaty-census/treaty.asp note Article Sixth.
