Benita Seeing that John was born in 1855 have you looked at the US Census for PA in 1860, 1870 and 1880? If so what did that tell you. If not, do you have access to those records where you live. If not perhaps one of our PA Cousin (who are not snow bound) may like to put that on their todolist for you. The second issue is that I ASSUME that he went to University and became an engineer. I would assume that would have also been in PA some where. So would finding those records help identify his parents?
