    3. Check the Boyd trees on Rootsweb World Connect about the estate of this Thomas Boyd. He left a sizeable estate, which was not finally settled until 1778. The oldest son William was legally responsible for making a home for his younger siblings, keeping their father's land in trust for them, and paying his siblings their shares. I have no information on the name of Thomas Boyd's wife Rebecca. I have the will of Thomas Boyd's daughter Rebecca who married Richard Parker of Cumberland County. "Rebecca Parker, widow" made her will 20 Sep 1781 in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. It was proven 30 October 1781. In her will she leaves personal effects to her brothers William and Andrew, sister Elizabeth Porter, and sister Jane. I have not been able to identify the Porter who married Elizabeth Boyd. Rebecca Boyd's husband Richard Parker of East Pennsborough died in 1778. He was a son of James Parker and Mary Eleanor Boyd. I have had no luck finding the family or origins of Mary Eleanor Boyd. In his will made 5 Feb 1778 and proven 18 Mar 1778, he leaves his wife Rebecca 150 pounds and "my child's part of the estate of Thomas Boid, which is now in the hands of Thomas McCleary if recovered." He left money for his wife to educate and raise son James "until he arrives at age 15 if she remains single." I assume the portion of Thomas Boyd's estate that he mentions is that of Rebecca's father Thomas. Rebecca does not mention a son in her will. I sent for these wills in a search for an ancestor named Elizabeth Boyd who was born about 1758 and married Gideon Smith of Chester County about 1781. When I found that Thomas Boyd's daughter was married to Mr. Porter by 1781, I eliminated her. Thomas Boyd's brother William Boyd also had a daughter Elizabeth. She was unmarried when William made his will in 1785 so I also ruled her out. After 10 years of research I believe my Elizabeth was the daughter of William Boyd of Sadsbury, Chester County (d. 1762) and his second wife Elizabeth Cowan. I intend to post my findings on the Boyd list in the near future.
