Mike, I used the web site here to find this information: _http://dgmweb.net/Ancillary/Geog/PA/PA-Cos.html_ (http://dgmweb.net/Ancillary/Geog/PA/PA-Cos.html) I'm sure there are others that people on this list can suggest, and I hope they will. I found the following counties to have been taken from Westmoreland after its own designation as a county in 1773: Allegheny from Westmoreland and Washinginton Cnty., 1786 (A copy of a map I own says 1788) Armstrong from " and Allegheny and Lycoming, 1800 Fayette from " , 1783 Indiana from " and Lycoming, 1803 Washington from " , 1781 Charlene Boyd Kemp PA State Historian HBS In a message dated 4/7/2011 6:20:49 A.M. Charlene When you and I visted the PA State Library at Harrisburg, PA, you were given an map of when the various Counties were created for PA. Is this website providing something similar? To others outside of PA, do or would other US States (and other Countries like Canada) have similar maps showing when and the area of new Counties. Lauren could we ask the webmaster, if this and other State/County websites be linked from the Boyd website?
