    1. Re: [BOYD] Boyd Family VA.DNA
    2. Charlie, and anybody else interested: My brother did the DNA 67 marker test for my family, who is descended from Hugh Boyd of Patrick County and brother to Joseph and Robert. We are L-21 with the long form being R1b1a2a1a1b4, but we still show up with no matches. I know that Michelle Ligon has a male family member that did the test also and on paper we are definitely related, but we don't have a match beyond 12. According to the administrator that doesn't show anything beyond maybe that her family and mine walked on two feet! So the DNA so far, hasn't helped in finding ancestors. I know that I read with interest all post from the 1800's east coast and wonder if I could work toward association with that family . 3. List There are 8 or 9 known Boyd families from Patrick County, VA. It would appear that Charlene's Hugh Boyd and Brothers were part of the northern group on the Franklin County Border. I understand that this group then went to Russell Co., VA and then onto other western Virginia Counties like Buchanan and Tazewell and perhaps into Washington County. And perhaps some going into east KY as well. So if you are from these Counties and a male Boyd it would be very good to have the DNA test done. The second group of Boyds were near the NC border, but I can't recall what there migration bath was. But again it useful for them to have their DNA 67 marker test done.
