This is to let member of this list know what has been arranged for me so far on my talking tour. I hope both to tell you some of what I know about our Boyd history and to be able to help individuals with their own family tree. 1) On Tuesday morning, 19 April 2011, I will be at Grand Rapids, MI. Could you contact Yolanda Boyd, Grand Rapids, MI Email ymlboyd@sbcglobal.net for the time and venue. 2) On Wednesday 20 April 2011, I will be just north of Dayton, Ohio - I think in Troy, Ohio. Could you contact Marla Fair, near Dayton, OH, Email dfair@woh.rr.com for the time and venue. 3) On Monday 25 April 2011, I will be in Elizabeth, PA Allegheny County. The group helping me are working out which of 2 venues is better. Time is expected to be in the evening, so you may wish to advise either Dave or Mindy which is a more suitable time to start for this 3 hour talk - 6 pm or 7 pm. So could you contact Dave Boyd on Email daveboydjr@mindspring.com or Mindy Householdre on Email minzgen@gmail.com 4) Mindy has yet to advise me if she would like an separate meeting in Washington Co., PA on Saturday 23 April, 2011. 5) On Thursday 28 April 2011, Judith Spears, of Pikeville, KY, Email jkas0301@bellsouth.net will be organising a meeting in Pikesville, KY. So could you contact her about the venue and time please. (This should allow Boyds from West Virginia and western Virginia to come alone as well.) 6) Judith was also talking about holding another meeting on Wednesday, 27 April perhaps in Floyd Co., KY. (That advise may be one of the 4500 Emails I have yet to clear.) 7) On Friday evening, 29 April 2011, I will be talking in Greensboro, NC. So could you contact Michelle Ligon, Email mich9118@bellsouth.net and Joyce Arcus, Email nightingale1960me@yahoo.com about this venue and time please. 8) At this stage I am not sure if there will be a talk in Durham, NC on the Saturday night, 30 April 2011. When Joyce lets me know I will advise you. Michelle Ligon has and is organising some other meetings in western NC before I go to Knoxville and Nasville, TN. Hopefully, I can provide those details later to day, as I read and clear more Emails I expect that this will be my first and only chance to get to the above places, as I live in Brisbane, Australia and I am 66 years old. So if you live near any of the above places I hope that you will take this opportunity to contact each of the organisers about coming along. I will be certainly trying to tell you as much as I can about our 900 year old Boyd history as I can and to help you with your tree (which I can continue to do when I get home). Through the marriage of various daughters of the Boyd family of Kilmarnock we are related to:- we are linked to the First Lord Montgomery and later Earl of Eglinton, the third Lord Semple and his descendants; third Earl of Glencairn - a Cunningham- and his descendants and a number of other Conningham Cadet Branches, the first Lord Boyd's daughter Elizabeth Married the 4th Earl of Angus - Archibald Douglas, so all their descendants are linked to the Boyds, The Muirs of Rowallan, Crawford of Crawfordland and some other Ayrshire branches of Crawfords/Crawfurds; 7th Earl of Erroll - a Hay - and quite a number of other Noble families like the Hamiltons, Blairs, Kennedies, Kerrs. You may also like to ask at your next meeting of your Family History Society, if any of them have married into Boyd families - both male and female - and see if these people would like to come along as well.
