Mike and group, My computer with my earlier posts on this is currently down. Here is a quick summary of what I can remember. There were two groups of Boyds in Patrick County. One group was in the part of the county next to Franklin County (and is the one currently being discussed) while the other group resided in the area of Patrick County next to the NC state line. It is the latter group (not the former) that represent the descendants of the James Boyd referred to below. I am a descendant of this group and have not been able to find any connections between this group and the one next to Franklin County. I am quite familiar with and have researched both areas since my mother's family came from the area next to Franklin County and my father's family came from the area near NC. I have corresponded with several of the descendants of the Boyds from the area near Franklin County and since I am unable to repost any of my prior data at this time, they have my permission to repost anything they may have from me. Con Thank you for tell us that we are looking at two separate Groups of Boyd families in Patrick Co., VA in the 1700's. Now we need to identify which names belong to which Group? With regard to James Boyd whose father Joseph Boyd came from Bucks Co., PA, I HAVE THE THOUGHT FROM THIS LOCATION AND TIME THAT Joseph Boyd MIGHT HAVE BEEN A QUAKER. So were there any Quaker settlements in Patrick County, VA.
