Estelle, I'm not the Boyd historian for VA, but I always read these posts because my family comes from VA and some still live there. Just from your letter below I can have no idea of what research you have done, so please don't be offended if what I suggest here is so elementary that your response is "well, duh." We are all at different stages of research for the different lines of our families, after all. I just now did a look up at _www.ancestry.com_ (http://www.ancestry.com) and didn't find a marriage or death certificate for Mandy. I used a couple of her possible names, but not all combinations. So if you haven't tried all those that would be a good start. You might get some ideas from _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) as well. That's maintained by the Latter Day Saints. Also, I see there is a Warren Country VA Genealogical Society you might contact. They also have a site at Rootsweb that looks like it's interactive. Also go to Genforum.com and Warren County is represented there as well. You can also go to the Boyd listings on Genforum; you might find something there. I found the death certificate for Thomas, so if Mandy died later, she may have gone to live with a child in her later years. Do you know where the children were living? I saw a Gertrude and a Thomas E., I think, on one of the census forms. If you know that, you might look for a death certificate in another state. Lastly, don't forget you can go to the web site for VA vital statistics and order a death certificate from Richmond. If they don't have it, you're out a little money, but it's another idea. I would order it directly from Richmond though. There are a lot of organizations on the web that offer to do a search. Maybe they are legit; maybe not. Well, those are some avenues to try. Honest, I wasn't trying to demean your intelligence. You may already be a professional genealogist for all I know. I certainly am not. I'm just another Boyd trying to help! He was the son of Eugene Franklin and Laura Miles Trail Boyd, and in the 1900 census says he was born May 1887. I don't have a marriage date for Thomas and Amanda either. I would guess they married abt. 1917 or 1918. (Amanda's nicknames were Mandy and Angie for Angela) Does anyone have any more information?
