    3. Pat, Could you please get me either more information about your friend's family, or put me in contact with her? I lived and worked in Roanoke from 1971 through 1976 and never met anyone who was a Boyd. I would be particularly interested if they were in Western PA. As to you suspicion of a Carolina ancestry, you might be interested in a new book, "The Boys of Diamond Hill" which recounts letters of five Boyd brothers during the war between the states. He will be answering questions about the book and his research at the Boyd tent at the Greater Greenville (SC) Scottish Games. He will also have copies of the book for sale at that time, May 28 at Furman University. I expect other South Carolina researchers to be in attendance that day. 1. Re: [BOYD] Fw: Boyd, Rakes and Cockram's of Patrick County, VA
    2. Dave, I thought I had her information but cannot locate it at the moment. She was born here and I think her father was maybe from either Maryland or PA. Her grandfather was a Methodist Minister and is written up in a book from Greene Memorial UMC. Her niece has done some research on the family and I have tried to find information for her too. She doesn't seem to connect to my line of Boyds who were in Franklin Co and Patrick Co, VA. I have most of the printed materials from Patrick Co. Most of my ancestors either settled Patrick Co or were born there. I connect to the following surnames: Adams, Austin, Boyd, Burnett, Clifton, Cruise, DeHart (my maiden name), Earles, Hughes, Layman, Lewis (my mother), Martin, Moles, Rakes, Slaughter, Ward, Worrell, and probably some I can't think of at the moment., I will call my friend to see if it is okay to share her information. She had a brother (deceased) and a sister who just passed away at age 91. She is the last of her family living except for her children and grandchildren. Her memory is not that good but she has everything she knows written down. Sincerely, Pat Long ---- Dave Boyd <daveboydjr@mindspring.com> wrote: > Pat, > Could you please get me either more information about your friend's > family, or put me in contact with her?
