Hello everyone, I descend from Hugh Boyd of Franklin Co, VA and will see what I have to post to the list. Seems like I sent my information to Mike sometime ago but he has so much on his plate he probably doesn't remember my post to him. It has been quite awhile back. I live about 35 minutes from the courthouse in Franklin Co, but they sent most of their records to Richmond, VA and I have never researched the Boyds when I was in Richmond. Maybe one day I will get back there. Sincerely, Pat Long Roanoke, VA ---- Charivari2@aol.com wrote: > Good morning everyone! Mike, this is from my family of Boyds in > Patrick/Franklin County VA.. Pat Where in Richmond, VA did they send these records? State Library or Archives? There are some Boyd researchers in Richmond. So hopefully they will step up to do some "volunteering" to develop this family group. Yes I do remember you. You sent me material on the Boyds of Londongrove, PA. This is one of quite a number of families that I have to type up. Mike, they have the records on microfilm at the State Library. You can access some of the records via internet but I don't have the URL for them now as they change it periodically and add materials to the website. I use Ancestry at my local library and find information there, but have not looked for the Boyds. There seems to be others on the list that descend from the Boyds in Franklin Co, VA. I have always thought that mine came up out of the Carolinas, but no proof. I don't think I have a connection to the Boyds in PA, but I have a friend whose maiden name was Boyd. She is 88 years old now and her grandfather was a Methodist Minister and moved around somewhat. Her family was in PA. I probably sent you her information too as I was trying to help her piece her family together. On mine I only have back to Hugh Boyd who was in Franklin Co, VA I am in the process of looking for any data I have on his family so I can post it to the list. Everyone take care. It is a miserable day here in Roanoke. Cold and raining. Good day to stay home and work on genealogy. Pat When I was travelling through the east Coast last year, I was told that "some" families did move back north. I think it was in SC or NC back to VA. I think this was something to do with tabacco lands or growing tabacco. Up to then, I had always thought that the movement was always South. Or could this be because the rivers to western Virginia ran though North Carolina. If any list members can add any views to this discussion please say so.
