He married Susan Carpenter in Shelby County, Kentucky in 1833, and moved to Cass County, Illinois before 1840. We had that his father's name was William (which CiareyForbes agrees with) and we have that William was born in New Jersey, but no dates, no wife, or other children etc. info. Our family history says that William's father was from Ireland, but I don't have any info on that, either. I am interested your William Boyd who married Nancy Reed/Read...curious whether they also had a son named Benjamin Reed Boyd (who I've been looking for to place a certain aunt that my great-grandmother was supposed to be named after).
