The Boyds who came in the 1720's were Presbyterian, Quaker and Church of Ireland. I am not sure if this will help you find new data or not. As you well know, some genealogical problems are not amenable to solution and I fear this is one of them. Considering that record keeping was shoddy in the first place, and many records were "lost" I don't have high hopes of ever finding out; however, I've seen other problems solved by the wonderful discovery of previously "lost" documents. If someone held a gun to my head, I would say that the Good family left from a port in Ireland (not Scotland) before 1750----not too helpful. I understand that Campbell is a common surname, but I just checked the index of my book and found 27 references to Campbell due to marriages between them and the Good family.
