Boyd's children was Alice Boyd, born in 1883, married a William Hacker after January 12, 1920, and died in 1957. I don't have any children listed (I supposed my family never checked it out because she wasn't a direct ancestor). So, according to this, Captain Charles Boyd himself came over from Ireland? Or did I miss some generation(s) somewhere? I know that in the 1850 census, his birthplace is listed as New Jersey. After John "Tip" Boyd took off for California, Charles U. Boyd would have been the oldest, so I can see why he would have taken the family stuff (unless it was against what his parents' wills said). It might be interesting to check out more about Alice and see if there's some more stuff floating around out there.
