    3. Mike, My husband & I were in Scotland this summer and obtained the same booklet I think. But our question is why and when exactly did the Boyds go to Northern Ireland? I always thought it was a polical event, but have no information about it. Our family didn't come to US until 1840's, and then only half the siblings came. Apparently, the British were transporting people to the Islands before some many came to the US. Meanwhile, my Boyd family didn't come to the US until about 1840--and then directly from Antrium and north from Scotland. I can only assume that some came as "free" settlers; but others may have been deported because of their religious views of the 1600's, while others could have been sent their as prisoners and may not have wished to have gone back to Great Britain. I think I saw at Dublin Airport that Oliver Cromwell sent some 200 people to one of the West Indies Island. So these "migrations" and any publications on them will be quite useful for Boyd families who have early families in NC, SC and Georgia in the later 1600's or early 1700's.
