    1. Re: [BOYD] Milton Harvey Boyd born 1897 - of Madison Co, Arkansas
    2. Hello, I have a BOYD connection in this county that comes out of Tennessee, so it caught my interest. I don't see a connection yet, but in taking a look at what you have providing and widening the scope, it leaves me with a few questions. Did you note that on the 1900 Richland Twp, Madison Cnty AR census on the same page (#270) is listed a BOYD, Robert B. (and family) widow age 55 b AR, both parents born TN? Also on the prior page (#269) is a BOYD, Thomas (and family) age 32 b ARK parents born ARK and MO? Have you looked at the surrounding families? Alot of Dorsey's between your Roudolf/Randolf and Robert B. with similar origin states. On page #275 there is a BOYD, William (and family) age 30 b.Ark both parents born ARK. On page #271 there are (with individual families): 42/43 BOYD, ?John age 75 b. TN parents TN 44/45 BOYD, John C age 28 b. Ark parents TN 45/46 BOYD, Allen age 38 b. Ark parents TN 48/48 BOYD, William age 26 b. Ark parents Ark/Ky next page of #271 50/51 BOYD, Loura "Sister-in-Law" age 19 b. Ark parents Ark [living in household of Eugene Moses] 52/53 BOYD, James age 35 b. Ark parents TN/Ark 53/54 BOYD, John E age 35 b. Ark parents TN/Ark On page #272 67/68 BOYD, Sarah widow age 43 b.Ark parents TN/TN On page 280# 216/217 BOYD, Robert age 66 b.TN parents TN/TN [wife Emily born Ark] 217/218 BOYD, David age 38 b. Ark parents TN/Ark If you jump back to the 1880 Madison cnty census you can see Page567 126/126 BOYD Robert age 46 (and family) 127/127 BOYD William age 25 136/136 BOYD, Robbert age 46 TN/TN/TN In Lamar twp is a John BOYD (and family) age 57 TN/TN/TN As to your ancestor interchanging or being referred to by his middle name, I find this often in the BOYD's during this time period. It is almost as though the first name is a formal name and the second is the everyday name. Often I find they have more than two. Also through the mid 1800's my BOYD's still following a naming practice of first born male is named after the paternal grandfather sometimes with the middle name being the maiden name of the mother; the second born son named after the maternal grandfather and the third born son that of the father. I think if you look at the all of the BOYD's in the area and adjacent families with their birthplaces and that of their spouses you may be able to piece them together. Sorry I can't offer more. 3. Thank you Robin, a real bowl of Spaghetti you have presented us with. Hopefully it will allow Brenda to "sort" out her family. >From a list I have from 1997 there is this query:- "Mike Carter - m.carter5@genie.geis.com Centerville, GA 31028 Robert BOYD b 1802 TN d Madison Co AR m Elizabeth (children Rbt,Eliza,Isbl,Sara David BOYD b 1802 MO d 1885 Crawford Co AR m Rutha ENLOW" So those entries "MIGHT" stem from one or both these families. Madison and Crawford Counties adjoin each other. Are there any members of this list that live in this area or near it?
