I have never replied or posted to this list, just been hanging out, I hope I am replying correctly.  But I figured I better on this one.  I grew up in Madison Co., AR and I am related to the majority of the Boyds that come out of Warren Co., TN  and the Boyds in question are part of my tree.   I do not have alot of information on Milton Harvey Boyd but I do have information on the Boyds on Madison Co. 3. Aldina With yours and Brenda's help I will be able to create a new family Chapter for these Boyd from Madison Co., Arkansas. And you have provided a quite valuable migration path from Warren Co., TN (from central TN) so that Boyd who have family in Warren Co., TN will now be able to look in the Madison Co., area of Arkansas and the Counties around it to see if their Boyd moved as part of that migration. Thank you. I will write to you in a few days about what you know. 3. Folks When you post your queries or your problems to the whole Boyd net list you may find some answers. There are many hundreds or thousands on this list, so someone will or might know what you are looking for - in terms of Boyd families or sources to look at to help you find your family. So you may be an "expert" on Warren County, TN but an "novice" when it come to Orange Co, NC. So folks do not hang back as Aldina has. Bring your queries and problems to the notice of the List. I now have some 630 Boyd families listed with either raw data or the family chapter drafted into a family tree. During my trip last year to Scotland, Ireland and the USA I THIK THAT I HAVE COLLECTED OVER 500 New Boyd families. While I was watching the Cricket last nigth was was working on the 31st folder to store my trip papers. I still have 2 more envolopes to sort - so I am not sure how may more folders I have yet to fill before I can start to Indexing process. Then we have State Historian for CT., PA., Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. So they can help you in those States Mike Boyd Chairman Historical Committee, HBS ----- Original Message ----- From: Aldina Addison To: Mike Boyd ; glenpoolgal@sbcglobal.net ; Boyd@rootsweb.com Cc: Boyd@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 11:41 PM Subject: Re: [BOYD] Milton Harvey Boyd born 1897 - of Madison Co, Arkansas I have never replied or posted to this list, just been hanging out, I hope I am replying correctly. 3. Aldine and Brenda If this family form Madison Co., Arkansas goes back to Warren Co., TN, IT MAY LINK TO THIS FAMILY of William Boyd from Ornage Co, NC:- ? U1? William Boyd, b 15/3/1761 ( , Orange Co., NC), d 14/2/1847 ( , Roane Co., TN), bu Smalley Cemetery, Roane Co., TN , mc / /1776 (church, town, county, state), wife unknown, dau of and (nee ) ????, b / /176x ( ), d / /177x ( ), bu , Orange Co., NC?, and had isuse:- m 2ndly / /1779 (church, town, county, state), Mary Wasson, dau of and (nee ) Wasson, b / /18xx ( ), d / /1785 ( ), bu , and had issue:- m 3rdly / /178x (church, etc) thought to be Mrs Lane, dau of and (nee ) ????, b / /17xx ( ), d / /18xx ( ), bu , and had issue:- ? m 4thly 7/2/1833 (church, town, Roane Co, TN), Nancy Smalley, dau of and (nee ) Smalley, b / /18xx ( ), d / /18xx ( ), bu , and had issue:- ? [Lived: ] The DAR Patriot Index of 1990 has this entry for William Boyd (U1?):- "William: b 3-15-1761 NC d 2-14-1847 TN m (1) Mary Wasson (2) Nancy Small Pvt NC PNSR" - Need to find out what Unit he was with? Richard Hopper said he was at King's Mountain. Mrs Metz said that William only had two sons - John born 9 December 1777 and Henry born 17 April 1780. But other researcher have listed five children to them Does this mean that Mary died in 1780's? If so, why did he wait until 1833 to remarry as he would have had a young family? Then there is the question of the gap between William's (U1?) birth in 1761 and John's (V1) birth in 1777. This would have made William only 15 years old when he married. While possible, it is unlikely even in that time in the frontier. Carol Hall said that Nancy Small was still living with William when he died in 1847, no mention if they had any children. Carol said William is buried at Smalley Cemetery, Roane Co. TN which is on Highway 58 about 5 miles south of Kingston. Carol Hall Bradford said that William was at Kings Mountain, SC, Moore's Creek Bridge, Sullivan's Island and other Battles (which?). Carol Hall said on 3 May 2003 (see CB03010Q) that William first wife was "an unknown lady and had John, what happened , we do not know." When William enlisted he was in Orange Co., NC and was only 16 years old. (QUESTION: where would his wife have lived, with her parents or William's? If William's, and she died shortly after John's birth or having an second child in 1778 or 1779, you might expect to find her in a Cemetery near William's parents house in Orange Co., NC.) V2 Henry Boyd, b 17/4/1780 ( , Orange Co., ?, NC), d 21/4/1846 ( ), bu , m 29/12/1808 (church, town, county, state), Susannah M Baumgartner , dau of and (nee ) Baumgartner, b 19/2/1784 ( ), d 9/9/1858 ( ), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: ] - It is not clear if this HENRY BOYD is the child of William and Mary Wasson (see CB03010Q) - In an Email to BOYD-L Net group by the late Linda Lawhon of Texas, [ch 4/238] on 12 January 1999, she posted this information:- In my "these are not my Boyds" file -- I have some material I copied from "Ansearchin' News" 1969, page 61 (publication of the TN Gen. Soc). The article is entitled "William Boyd" and it was contributed by Mr. Louis Johnson Jr., 729 Woodlawn Dr., Cookeville, Tenn. 38501. It states: "Henry S. Boyd, a son of William Boyd, was born April 17, 1780 and died April 21, 1856. He married Susannah M. Baumgartner who was born Feb. 19, 1784 and died Sept. 9, 1858. A daughter of Henry S. Boyd and Susannah Baumgartner Boyd, Mary Wahoo Boyd was born Dec. 30, 1826 and died Apr 7, 1901. She married Joshua Chrisenberry who was born Nov. 1, 1819 and died July 26, 1874. For more detailed information on the family of Henry S. Boyd see National File 444498, Mrs. Carol Christenberry Greer, of the Daughters of the American Revolution." The above was in response to the following information posted by Linda:- "Has anyone research Henry S. BOYD and his wife Susannah M. BAUMGARDNER. They married 29 Dec 1808. Henry was born 17 April 1780 in VA and died 21 Apr 1856 in Roane Co, TN. I know he had 6 daughters but all names are not known. "This article also states that William Boyd b. 15 Mar 1761 in Orange Co. NC was the son of George Boyd. William m. 1 Mary Wasson and had two sons, John and Henry. William married secondly Nancy Small. William died 14 Feb 1847 in Roane Co. TN. His Rev. War application for a pension is one of those that make the hair of genealogists stand on end. One of the questions asked the applicants was where did they live after serving. William said he had lived in Holton, Tenn, Roan (Rowan) Co. NC, Lincoln Co. NC, Buncomb Co. NC, Anderson Co. TN, Warren Co. TN, Jackson Co. AL, again in Warren Co. TN, and finally in Roane Co. TN. He entered service in Orange Co. NC., served 6 mon. and then moved to Surry Co. NC. where he lived for 4 yrs after his service in the RW.
