This Henry Boyd is not on the 1990 DAR Patriot Index. Mindy was his pension given in 1932 OR 1832? Does anyone know whom Henry Boyd married? Secondly, are there any Loudon County, VA Boyd family researcher in this County? I will make this family chapter 27/1358 in Volume 27 for Boyd families from Virginia. Thank you. Mindy is there any other information on these Individuals form this DAR source? For the DAR members of this list - is there anyway of getting or finding more data on the Families of these Individuals that Mindy has posted. Most of the DAR material I have seen is for the direct tree - ie from the resercher to the Ancestor. If any other data has been collected by the DAR, it woul dbe useful to know so we can link a number of families. Members This family of Andrew Boyd, I have allocated to Chapter 25/1251 in Volume 25 which Charlene Kemp our State Historian is compiling. (Email statehistorianpa@clanboyd.org ) Given that Andrew was born in 1747 and Sarah in 1778, IT MAY SUGGEST THAT SHE IS HIS SECOND WIFE. So the naming patterns of his children may not help to identify his parents in Philadelphia, PA. I was just looking at the date of birth for their son James Boyd in 1791. This would indicate that she was only about 12 years old when she married. So is anyone familiar with the CENSUS SUBSTITUTE INDEX for Tennessee in 1790 or even the 1800 US Census to see if Andrew had older children living with him. [Do we have anyone living in or near Philadelphia whom my be able to take up some research in that City on early Boyd families?] I was not able to make any connection to any of my existing families, except for Elizabeth Polk Henderson. It would appear that she married 2ndly to the husband of Nancy Boyd of Williamson Co., TN:- JB-1-7: 'Nancy Boyd B Williamrnson Co., c. 1810 d. Wmson. Co., Jan. 1830, age 20 or 26, bur. Boyd Cern. in. Wmson. Co., 21 Dec. 1825, Jonathan Amis, John Boyd Sec. d. i. 2 daughters, probably: JB-1-7-1: Jane C. Amis JB-1-7-2: Nancy Amis Amis married 2) Elizabeth Polk Henderson, widow of James Boyd, s/o Andrew Boyd of Maury Co., which might indicate some relation with that family. Charlene, do you want me to write up this data into chapter 25/1251 for you> Does anyone on this long to the 4 married children or know anything about John and Robert Boyd from Maury County, TN Mike Boyd Historical Committee, HBS ----- Original Message ----- From: Mindy Householder To: Boyd@rootsweb.com ; Mike Boyd Sent: Saturday, February 19, 2011 4:18 AM Subject: BOYD, Andrew Roster of Soldiers and Patriots of the American Revolution buried in Tennessee I have found several Boyd's in this book and wanted to share  Title of Book: Roster of Soliders and Patriots of the American Revolution Buried in Tennessee 1974 compiled by Lucy Womack Bates, Chairman Revisted 1979 by Helen Crawford Marsh Published by Tennessee Society, NSDAR Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 79-64462 Page: 19 BOYD, Andrew (B 1747 Philadephia, PA/d August 5, 1828, Maury County. Isaac Johnson stated that he married Mary Boyd in Onslow Co N.C., This is in the Cane Ridge Book I am not sure if it was in his statement applying for his pension or his will. I do believe it was when he was trying to get his pension.(REV WAR). joyce
I can see that Mindy has set a "little" homeword for us in these post. I will shortly go through each and research what I have on these Boyds. I have just spent the last 2 weeks going through about 19 folders with papers from last years trip and making a table of contents and making any cross refernces that I can easily remember. I still have another 13 or so folder to Index plus there I know that there are more papers in hte house that I have to sort into the folders as well. Then I can start to work out if the data in the folder belong to an existing family chapter or if I need to creat a new chapter for that data. I will get on with my research an let you all know what I find for each separate posting. I am searching for the marriage bonds of Isaac Johnson and Mary Boyd. They were married in N.C., 1779. Seems this could be found at the State Archives? Was her maiden name BOYD? Was this her first marriage? Joyce

Hi Boyds LOL I'm am trying to keep you all busy here! Like I said before, I am going through my collection of books looking for Boyds. As I find them, I will post. These books contain other names too, so if you want me to check for other names, just let me know. Hope this helps someone!! * Title Page * DEATH NOTICES FROM RICMOND, VIRGINIA NEWSPAPERS 1821 - 1840 Published by: The Virginia Genealogical Society Special Publication Number 9 There is in the introduction page: The notices have not been reproduced verbatim, but shortened in a manner to contain most of the pertinent facts. The words "wife" and "widow" have usually been substituted for the words "consort" and relict". Most readers of old newspapers know that "Instant" means this month and "Ultimo" means last month. The newspaper usually shortens these to "Inst." and "Ult." The notice was often written before the end of the month and labeled "Inst." and published early in the next month, so that Inst. is in error. Where we noticed, we have inserted: "(Ult.)" When dates are not given in the notice, they often say such things as "died last Wed." When last Wednesday's date is obvious from the date of the newspaper, it follows in parentheses, others it is omitted. The obituaries often contain other facts of interest that are too long to include. Here the statement, ("long obit.") is added. The original notice should be consulted where the reader is interested in other details or in the flowery eulogy that often accompanies a notice. This information was obtained from the newspaper and microfilm collections of The Virginia State Library.
