    2. We have worked out Mike's time in PA and getting him to his next meeting. as previously announced. I have no idea with whom he will spend the Easter weekend. I was under the impression that David Boyd was meeting him somewhere and bringing him into PA on Monday. I'm driving out on Monday for his meeting in western PA, but I can't retrieve him this weekend. Is anyone in contact with Mike as he travels? Does anyone know where he is now? 3. I have been to Belle's home and her father Ben Boyd's store. It is the home of the Berkeley County West Virginia Historical Society and a Civil War Museum. How many of you have also been there? What was your favorite part of your tour of the house? I had to giggle at the letter she wrote to her cousin in which she extolled the virtues of her beauty. By the way.... there is a woman writing a book about Belle and she'd like to be in touch with Belle's descendants. I have suggested she post to the list. 3. (Repeat) Announcement: Boyd Mountain of Waynesville, NC, featured in a recent issue of Our State magazine (NC), will be the location of Mike Boyd's talk on Clan Boyd History and Genealogy.  Mike will present his talk in the "Clinch Valley Cabin" at Boyd Mountain on Sunday afternoon, May 1st, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.  Light refreshments will be provided.  Directions and information are available at http://boydmountain.com/index-home.html.  The venue will be open to us after 2:30 p.m., so please plan accordingly. **This location may appeal to Boyd researchers in a four-state area, including northeast Georgia, southeast Tennessee, northwest South Carolina and of course North Carolina. As Judith recently pointed out, "the talk will be appropriate for veteran genealogists and those just starting to explore their family history. If you have a family tree, please print it out or put it on a thumb drive and bring it to the meeting. Mike has collected over 640 individual Boyd families and is working towards connecting all of these families together." Please join us for sharing family trees and for the amazing history of Clan Boyd in beautiful, mountain surroundings of Waynesville (Haywood County), North Carolina. RSVP to me, please?  This way I can let the kind folks at Boyd Mountain know how many chairs to have for us, and how many refreshments I should bring.  Thank you so much! 1. [BOYD] Need help Charleston, WV to Lexington, KY
    2. Please help us get Mike Boyd from Charleston, WV to Lexington, KY on Tuesday, April 26! Mindy Householder and Dave Boyd have organized Mike's time in western PA and Dave has even agreed to drive Mike down to Charleston, WV. But Dave can do no more because he must be in Indiana that evening. Can't someone meet Mike in Charleston and drive him on to Lexington? There is a Kentucky Room at the Lexington Public Library and I'm sure Mike could spend hours there doing research. He would need a hotel/motel reservation for the night, but he would pay for it. You don't need to set up a meeting if you need to get back to Charleston that same day. Judith Spears could then get Mike in Lexington and take him on in to Pikeville, KY for her meeting on Wednesday night. Please help! Charlene Boyd Kemp PA State Historian HBS

    1. [BOYD] Mike Boyd's talk in Grand Rapids, Michigan
    2. Yolanda Boyd
    3. Hi,   Today Mike Boyd visited Grand Rapids, Michigan and gave his history talk to a goup of 10 people.  It was the perfect way to spend a cold rainy day.  Mike talked for almost 4 hours, sharing the history of the Boyd family and also giving advice to individuals about how to research their own line.  Even though we had a mix of novice and experienced family historians, I think that everyone learned something new...I know I did!  It was a very successful meeting and we are thankful to Mike for making Grand Rapids a stop on his tour.    After his talk, we went out for lunch with Roger Moffat of the Western Michigan Genealogical Society.  The WMGS co-sponsored Mike's talk by helping with advertising and provided a lovely room for us to use.  Roger Moffat is responsible for the genealogy portion of the Moffat Clan website and we talked quite a bit about how to use their technology to get Mike's vast records onto a website for all to use.  My husband Clint and I were very excited about taking on that challenge and will be discussing it further with Mike.    I highly recommend that you try to attend one of Mike's talks if you have not done so before.  After researching our Boyd line for 10 years, I thought that I knew a lot about the Boyd history.  But, Mike amazed us all with his wealth of knowledge and the way that he was able to cite so many dates and names without using notes.  After listening to Mike, I have some new ideas of where to look next with our research.    Yolanda Boyd Ada, Michigan

    2. Lauren Boyd McLachlan
    3. Dear Cousins: The AGM 2011 in Las Vegas was well attended.  We accomplished a lot of business and we had a good time. You will read more about it soon in the Dean Road. The Membership voted unanimously to hold our 2012 Annual General Meeting and Gathering of the Clan at the Sacramento Caledonian Club's 136th annual Sacramento Valley Scottish Games & Festival in April 2012. This event is held in Woodland, California, at the Yolo County Fairgrounds. The Sacramento International Airport is nearby. Motel accommodations in Woodland are reasonable. The date is yet to be confirmed. However, historically, it is the 4th or last weekend in April. It will not interfere with Easter as Easter falls on th 8th of April in 2012. Mike has expressed interest in attending the AGM again next year. We shall see how his plans develop over this coming year. If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact anyone on the Executive Board. Yours Aye, Lauren Lauren Boyd McLachlan President, Chair of the Executive Board House of Boyd Society http://www.clanboyd.org president@clanboyd.org
