    1. Re: [BOYD] Deed of Joseph Henderson, 1760? on Turnip Creek in Lunenburg/Charlotte county, Va.

    3. Edwin, I'm doing some work on the John Boyd (married Nancy Urie) family line in Cumberland/Franklin County, PA. Your message caught my eye. Have you seen this possible connection? *Joseph Henderson (in right of Samuel Boyd), February 20, 1754. Neighbors: Christ Irwin, Robert Boyd, John Kirkpatrick, John Irwin. * The above is from earliest land titles in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County (modern), Pennsylvania. All your families in one :)What I need to do is see if I can find an Esther Boyd. Regardless, all those folks lumped together are no coincidence. So which family are you asking about? Boyd, Henderson or Irwin? 3. Gay Could there have been an epic in Macon County, Alabama during the Civil War? Have you joined the Macon County, AL. Net list to see WHAT REASON's there might have been for no death records. Are there any tax lists that might show when Fitzherbert Boyd might have disappeared? Oh when were the four daughters born? That might help sort out some theories. Why in 1855 did Hugh Boyd sell this land to Martha Allison? List are there any other questions or suggestions that might help to find what happened to Fitzherbert Boyd? Thank you Mike Boyd -----Original Message----- From: Gay Dasher Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2013 3:19 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BOYD] Henry Boyd of Troup Co., GA Well I guess you would be confused. So sorry ; I mistyped and meant Herbert #7(Fitzherbert). I already have the info that you sent and appreciate you trying to help. As you see there is no death info on Fitzherbert and wife Sarah (Sophronia). They are listed as Herbert and Sarah in the 1860 AL Federal census and living in Macon County AL. Their child Mollie (Longino) was my great grandmother. I have not been able to find any other into on Fitzherbert, except for some Civil War records and they do not show his death, and Sophronia and why their children were with Sophronia's mother Martha Price Allison. Here are some notes that I have on Martha Price ALLISON Martha's will (Meriwether County Will Book B, p. 199) and found that the Boyd girls were her granddaughters. Her will was made 18 Dec 1869 and probated 4 Nov 1872. She leaves to her granddaughter, Annie Madora Boyd, daughter of H. & S. Boyd, all her personal estate of every kind. She leaves to her grandchildren Martha Susan Boyd, Mary Frances Boyd and Annie Madora Boyd all her real estate to be equally divided between the three. Executor was James F. McKnight. Witnesses were J.N. Burton, J.B. Longino, and J.F. McKnight. The clerk who recorded it was Jas. W. Banning, O.M.C. Martha Allison appears in the 1860 census of Meriwether County, GA with son David E. Allison, who died in the war. and Florence Faulkner, who I believe is another granddaughter of Martha. Martha Allison appears in the 1870 census of Meriwether County: #215/215 Allison, Martha, 63,wf, keeping house, $600/$400, b. GA Boyd, Susan, 16, wf, b. GA Boyd, Mollie, 15, wf, b. GA Boyd, Anna, 8, b. GA Martha Allison, had custody of Mary(Mollie) and her two sisters, Anna Madora and Martha Susan Boyd BOYD, Hugh to ALLISON, Martha, 202 1/2 ac, LL150-171, Upper 9th dist, Inst 2 Feb 1855, f/r 3 Feb 1855, K-407 Translation: Hugh Boyd sold to Martha Allison on 2 Feb 1855, 202.5 acres of land in Land Lots 150 and 171 in the Upper Ninth District of Meriwether County. The transaction was filed and recorded in the courthouse 3 Feb. 1855. The complete deed can be found in Meriwether County Deed Book K, page 407. The deed would say how the land was distributed between the two lots, i.e., south half of one and north half of the other, or whatever. There may even be more descriptive notations like who owned the adjoining land. As you know, 202.5 acres was standard full land lot size, so this would probably be half of each land lot, most likely adjoining.

    3. Gay I am a little confused as to which Henry you are talking about?? >From the book the Boyds of Boyds Tank, by Frank Ewell Boyd & William Taylor Boyd. (1970). 107 p. 71-126643 MARC, Chapter V. it has this outline of Henry Boyd and Susan Heard's family "Henry Boyd, son of Richard and Fanny Walden Boyd, was born in jasper County, Georgia, May 20, 1797 and died in Troup County, Georgia, April 17, 1848. On December 6, 1818 Henry married Susan Heard (1800-1863) of Morgan County, Georgia, a grand niece of Governor Stephen Heard an early settler of Wilkes County, Georgia. " Henry and Susan Heard Boyd lived out their days in the Long Cane community of Troup County. There they died and were buried in unmarked graves in the family cemetery located just west of Long Cane near the Chattahoochee River. They had twelve children, namely: 1-Joseph (Uncle Joe) Boyd (1819-1881), married Ann McGee. They had eight children-Carrie, John Henry, Walter, Joseph, Mary Belle (Bowman), Emma (Ford), Annie and William. The children lived in Georgia and Mississippi. 2-William Wilson Boyd (1821-1864), married Mary Rebecca Fears December 14, 1847 in Chambers County, Alabama. He died in the Civil War near Orange Court House, Virginia, April 17, 1864. They had two children -Mary Susan Rebecca, born in 1852, married (1) J. D. Trammell in 1870 and (2) J. L. Askew in 1888, and William Henry Fears, born in 1862. He married Annie C. Croft in 1884. These families lived at West Point, Georgia. 3-Thornberry (Uncle Berry) Boyd, born January 20, 1823, married Elizabeth Cline of Troup County January 13, 1848. They had eleven children Tucker, Kate (Robinson), Ella (Gilbert), Henry, Joe, Dink (Mallory), Mollie (Mitchell), John, Berry, Jimmie (Barrow) and Howell. The children resided in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. 4-Richard Columbus (Uncle Lum) Boyd (1825-1897), married Elizabeth Margaret Formby (1830-1855) in 1849. They had two children-Henry and Mary Susan Elizabeth (Ammnn). His second marriage was to Ann Rowe Eberhart of Chambers County, Alabama, January 15, 1856. They had nine children-Medorah "Dora" (1856), Susan Briten "Britty" (1858), John William (1860), Columbus Franklin (1862), James Sanders (1863), Joseph Heard (1865), Ann Lula (1867), Nannie Laura (1870) and Hattie Florence (1873). He married (3) Harriett "Pink" Eberhart (Ann Rowe's sister) in 1877. There were no children. Uncle Lum's fourth wife was Mrs. Liza Haralson whom he married in 1890. There were no children. Richard Columbus Boyd, born in Georgia moved to Rankin County, Mississippi, in the late 1860's. At the site of his Mississippi homestead he operated a country store. The postoffice there was named Pink for his third wife, Pink Eberhart Boyd. He was probably buried in the old Pisgah Churchyard in Rankin County. The descendants of Richard Columbus Boyd families are legion. Margaret Worley Jamison of Marks, Mississippi, is a descendant of Joseph Heard Boyd and Mary Ethel Moore of Jackson, Mississippi, is a descendant of Ann Lula Boyd (Gilbert). 5-Mary Kate Boyd (1827-1908), born in Covington County, Georgia, married Holmes Tatum in Troup County October 30, 1845. They were buried in East Vernon Baptist Churchyard in Troup County. They had nine children-Henry S., Marietta (Hudson), Susan C. (Williams), William Seth, Nancy E. (Freeman), Peter E., Eulie (Williams), Americus and Dora (Chambers). Janie Lovelace Heard of West Point, Georgia, is a descendant of Mary Kate (Boyd) Tatum. 6-Thomas H. Boyd, born January 13, 1828, married Susan Ann Johnson November 14, 1851 in Chambers County. They had three children-Laura (Robbins), William and Clara. The children resided in Mississippi. 7-Fitzherbert Boyd, born March 8, 1831, married Sophronia Allison of Butts County, Georgia. Their children were-Susan (Stephens ), Mollie (Longino), Ida, Kate (Adams) and Annie (Andrews). All the children resided in Georgia. 8-Nancy C. Boyd (1833-1867), unmarried. She was buried in the Boyd family cemetery near Long Cane. 9-Susan Fannie (Aunt Fan) Boyd (1835-1910), married Alonzo Dillard in Troup County. They had three children-Albin, Hugh and Alonzo Jr. The junior son lived and died at Auburn, Alabama. He married Annie Wynne of Boston, Massachusetts, and they had two children-Louise (King) and Edward Alonzo Wynne. The father and mother were buried in Auburn. 10-John Lee (Uncle Jack) Boyd (1838-1904), unmarried. He was buried in the Boyd family cemetery at Long Cane. 11-Henry F. Boyd (1840-1863), died in the Civil War March 9, 1863 at Port Royal, Virginia, of disease. 12-Medora Olive Boyd (1843-1923), married John Turner Hudson November 3, 1872. They had six children-Idus Clay, James Gordon Bennett, Erin, Susie (Wright), John Turner Jr. and Dora. The father and mother were buried in the Long Cane Baptist Churchyard. John Turner Jr. (1881-1952) lived and died at Auburn, Alabama. He married Nell Clark and they had two children-John Turner III (1921) and Peyton Clark (1923). John Turner III married Christine Blackburn and they had a son-John Turner IV. John Turner III is deceased. Clark is unmarried. Are you talking about the son 11- Henry F Boyd who died in 1863? During my last trip to the USA, I found out that "the powers to be" in Georgia after the Battle of Culloden in 1746 sent a delegation to Argyllshire and Invernessshire to encourage people to come and settle in Georgia. I assume that "most" of the Boyds that came to Georgia came from the Northern States in the 1700's, with many stoping in South Carolina before they moved into Georgia. I ASSUME that this was in the late 1800's and most likely after the War of Independence. So it will be interesting to see when Boyd family Branches say they came to Georgia. Thank you Mike Boyd -----Original Message----- From: Bill Boyd Sent: Tuesday, November 19, 2013 6:15 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BOYD] Boydville, Stephens County, Georgia I am happy to hear from another Boyd in Georgia. I would like to contact you off of the BOYD site. Please email me at [email protected] Boydville is just a crossroads in Stevens County. The county seat is Toccoa. If you are going up there you might want to take the opportunity to go to the Toccoa-Stevens County Public library and see if there is any history about it. 3. Bill a very good idea for our Georgian cousins to contact you, so you have a GA Boyd contact list for future reference. 3. Thank you Phil. It will be good to see why Boydville is actually called Boydville and who it was named for and when? This is in the NE of George on Highway 17 and a little north of I-85 near the South Carolina border. I can’t recall any mention of Stephens County over the last 2 decades. So do any of our Georgian Cousins know who BOYDVILLE, Stephens County was called after or anything about these Boyd of Stephens County? Thank you Mike Boyd Historical Committee, HBS

    3. I am happy to hear from another Boyd in Georgia. Second step would be the County Clerks office. Look forward to hearing from you.
