    2. Helen & other List Members, >I ASSUME the Wm BOWLING, J.P. who signed for Mr. Boykin of Burke Co GA >wasalso from BURKE Co GA???. I AM NOT AN >ALEXANDER DESCENDANT, just read lots. The TOMBIGBEE RIVER runs >through Lowndes Co MS and into Pickens Co AL... Just in case anyone is >interested. I don't know if this Wm. Bowling was from Burke Co., Ga. also or not, but one could probably assume that. I'm guessing JP means Justice of the Peace. Don't even know if this is the same Wm. Bowling twice but it sounds like it, which would mean Wm. Alexander was probably from Burke Co. too. What really intrigued me was the name Alexander. In "Pontotoc Pioneers, Vol. 7" there was an abstract for I guess a Deed of Gift. Dated March 7, 1840 it was between James Aldridge Sr. of Lawrence Co., Ala. & William Alexander trustee for Mary A.C. Bolen of Lawrence Co., Ala. Mary is the wife of Brantley Bolen & the daughter of James Aldridge. Brantley & Mary A.C. Bolen were married in Lawrence Co., Ala. Their daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Bolen was born in Lawrence Co. & she married Willoughby Bolen who I believe was a grandson or nephew of my Willoughby Bolen. Anyway the deed gift was a negro girl slave named Maria, 10 yrs. old with a value of $500. The slave was not to be moved out of the county without the consent of William Alexander. Upon the death of James Aldridge Sr. the slave would become part of the Aldridge estate. Now who is the William Alexander tied up with this Bolin family. Is he the same one or a relative of the one who scouted the Tom big Bey settlement? The one William Bowlin signed for as a character witness? Interesting isn't it? Bernadine Teague
