Will of MARTHA BOLEN(BOLIN) Laurens Dist SC 25 Aug 1834 - 2 Nov 1840 (from a photocopy of the original from Probate Judge, Laurens Co SC, Feb 1970) South Carolina, Laurens District in the name of God amen I MARTHA BOLEN of the District aforesaid being of Perfect mind and memory - calling unto mind the mortallaty of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men onst to die. and being desirious of disposing of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with - do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Item first - I give and bequeth to my two sons - WILLIAM H. BOLEN and ALBERT D. BOLEN the hole of my real estate to be equally divided between them - if either of them should die and the other live - I will that the surviving Brother shall ? the deceased brothers Part - unless death shall not take place until they have legal heirs of their own. In that case I wish it to go to their Legal heirs - allso my will is that my two sons before mentioned shall have each a horse and Bridle and Saddle - out of my Personal estate in liew of all other claims therein. My will is that my single daughters, that is ELIZABETH - PATSY - and MATILDA shall remain together with their brothers as long as they live single - and during that term, for them to have an interest in common, with their brothers, in the real estate so far as it regards a home and the Produce of the soil for their support - but as they marry this interest abates to them that do marry. After my Death and buryal expenses are paid out of my Chattle estate - I will that the remainder continue undivided - and continue on the premises - for the joint use of all my children which are single - untill my daughters marry - and as they marry I wish them to receive an amount out of my Chattle estate as before described. I desire that the residue be divided equally between all my daughters - that is to say NANCY? POLLY - ELIZABETH - PATSY- and MATILDA - and lastly I do hereby appoint my son William H. Bolen and my Brother WILLIAM GREEN executors of this my last will and testament - and I do hereby uterly disalow - revoke and disanul - all and every other testaments - will - Legacies - bequests and executors - by me in any will before made willed and bequethed - ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament - in witness - in witness where of I have hear unto set my hand and seal - on this the 25th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty four---- her Martha (x) Bolen (Seal) mark Signed sealed publish pronounced and declared by the said Marth Bolen as her last will and Testament in the presents of us; who in her presents and in the presents of each (Hier?) have hearunto subscribed our names Elisha Watkins Franklin Glen John C. Watkins & being sworn as the law directs made oath that the said Marth Bolen Execute the within instrument as her last will and that he together with Elisha Watkins & Franklin Glenn in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other Signed and witness to the same. Church. Is this the "single daughter " Elizabeth in above 1834 will of Martha? If so, which William Bolen, apparently dead by 1834, was her father? Possibly: William Bowlen p. 38 in 1810 census of Laurens Co SC. William Bowland p. 34 in 1820 census Laurens Co SC. 300001-14010 Martha Bolding p. 220 in 1830 Laurens Co SC census.
