I am glad others enjoyed the Pocahontas web site. Since my research is limited, I gather from the responses that what is posted can be generally accepted as true? I guess I was holding my breath for someone to say, "No, no, no, he has it all wrong!" Can someone suggest how to handle the change in spelling of the last name in their databases. Different census will spell the last name different (Boling, Bolling, etc.) and it is not consistent even for the same person. I find it very difficult to search for someone in my own genealogy program with all the different last names for the same family. Are there rules ;-) for this or 'suggested procedures'. Any help would be appreciated. AND ONE MORE THING! I can't get beyond my GGgrandfather: DELANEY (Laney) BOWLING who married Jane McWHORTER (b. 1860). Jane was from Clay County (f. was Elijah). Delaney was shot and killed January 1880 at Walnut Creek church (I think Owsley County). I have discovered 3 Delaney Bowlings in this area of KY of approx. the right age (my guess 20 odd years in 1880). 1) Delaney s/o Elijah Bolin and Zelphia of Breathitt....but someone was sure he lived beyond 1880...I ELIMINATED HIM. 2) Delaney s/o Delaney & Sara SPICER (Breathitt Co.)...anyone know who he married or when he died?? 3) Delaney (b. 1858)s/o Stokely Bolin and Sintha JONES (Perry Co.)...anyone know who he married or when he died??
