The following 280 soldiers are believed to have participated in the battle and were able to avoid capture at the battle site: Pvt William F Bowlin The following 608 soldiers are believed to have participated in the battle and were captured by the enemy at the battle site: Sgt William Bowlin (Paroled or exchanged) Pvt Thomas Bowlin (Paroled or exchanged); Non-commissioned officers and privates were processed at Libby Prison and sent to Belle Isle Prison at Richmond on November 13, 1863. Those at Belle Isle who were still alive and well enough to travel were transferred to Andersonville, Georgia when it opened in February, 1864. Most of them were transferred February 18.
