    2. Sarah Stevens
    3. Hello Everyone, I am new to the list. My name is Sarah Clark Stevens. I am looking for any info on the family of Lucinda Bowling Sinclair Howard. Lucinda was b. 1814 in Ky. She first m. Alexander Sinclair on 3 July 1831. He d. and she m. Henry F. Howard in New London, Ralls Co., Mo. on 11 March 1836. It is thought that she had a small daughter named Sarah from her first m. and possibly a son. The Howard family moved and had a farm on Big Turnback Creek in Dade Co., Mo. Henry served in the Civil War on the union side. The couple had seven known children named Margaret M., Joseph T., Mary A., Nancy Elizabeth, Lucinda Ann, Dorothy J., and Henry Monroe Howard. Henry d. on 27 Sept. 1872 in Dade Co. Lucinda did receive a widow's pension from the Civil War. It is thought that Lucinda moved from child to child during her last years. It is not known when or where she d. Lucinda Bowling always bragged to her family that she was a descendant of Pocahontas on her red line. She left her daughter Nancy a small side table that she had inherited. Nancy is said to have received a letter from Mrs. Woodrow Wilson requesting the table. It is told that the letter so infuriated her that she burned it. (Mrs. Wilson did prove her line back to Pocahontas. Could this be the same line?) She also claimed to be a cousin of Daniel Boone and told of playing with his children in the attic where he kept a coffin that they played in on rainy days. She claimed to have walked with his children behind his coffin on the way to his burial. Does anyone know of any Bowling/Boone family link? The Bowling Family Ass. and Hardy Bowling (a researcher) have tried to help me. It is thought that Lucinda's father was Daniel Bowling the son of Dulaney Bowling. Dulaney was a son of Benjamin Bowling. I have been unable to definitely prove any of this. Lucinda Bowling was my husband's gggg grandmother. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
