    2. I am still searching for ancestors of Robert Bolen b. about 1787 in NC (or VA.) He settled in Laurence County, AL. Was he the son of Thomas? One researcher thinks there are ties to Orange County, NC for this family. Are there any good history books of this area? There may be a Pocohontas connection through the Bollings. Robert's children may have been: Polly (Mary) Bolen b. about 1806, GA m. Andrew Suggs in Laurence Co, AL Mar 10, 1822 Brantley B. Bolen b. about 1807 in SC, m. 1st Emily McNutt, Jan 14, 1830 Laurence Co. AL, m. 2nd Mary Ann Caroline Aldridge Dec. 1, 1836 Elijah C. Bolen b. about 1810 (census record about 1790? so may have not have been a sibling) d. Apr 1, 1856 MS, m. Jane Beacham Nancy Bolen m. Sanford Wesson Dec. 29,1829, Lawrence Co. AL Frances Bolen b. about 1820 in TN, m Joseph Bishop Aug 28, 1839, Lawrence Co, AL, also migrated to MS Robert Bolen, b. about 1824 in AL, m. Jane Clark Aug 6 1846, Itawamba Co, MS His son, John Thomas was murdered in 1877 by a cousin, Thomas B. Bolen. (I am particularly interested in these cousins) William A. Bolen b. 1825 in AL, m. Elizabeth Rayner in Itawamba Co, MS on Jul 9, 1849 Was John Bowlen, b about 1808, SC a member of this family as well? He was living near a family member in MS in 1870. Robert Sr. married a Frances Wren (widow?) in 1840 and there is a Thomas living with them in Lawrence Co, AL in the 1850 census. It seems Frances, age 62 would have been too old to be the mother of Thomas age 8. After the marriage to Frances, Robert changed faiths from Baptist to Methodist and a son (or grandson, stepson?) became a Methodist bishop. Would like to find this minister.
