    3. Does anyone have this lineage? A friend of mine here said her grandmother was a Dickerson; her gr-grandfather Dickerson married a Bolling. Was told the family lines run through Tenn and Alabama before going to Texas in late 1800's/early 1900's. Her grandmother, Ava Maurine Dickerson, was born in or near Abilene, Texas. Her grandmother married David Jack Bryant. Judy M.

    3. Hi all, I would like to know more of the Dr. William Gay who married to Jane or Elizabeth Bolling. I don't make judgement of the correctness of information given to me, and would love to get all the information that everyone has on the subject. My policy is to study everything I can find on the subject. Thanks before hand for a reply. Ken

    3. Hi all, This collection of Bolling names comes from a study of NC Bollings, Randolph County, NC names, and Todd Bollings Book. It's a fact these names are mixed up with two or more families, but, there is more than a grain of truth to some of these names. I think some of these may be the children of John Bolling bc 1730s, who lived in Anson County, NC, rather than the parent Benjamin Bolling as listed here. John and Benjamin came here in the French Indian Wars, and stayed. Both had a son Benjamin. <fontfamily><param>Arial</param><bigger><bigger><bigger>FIRST GENERATION Beware, Linked Speculation </bigger></bigger></bigger></fontfamily><bigger><fontfamily><param>Times New Roman</param>1. Benjamin Bolling, or perhaps John Bolling. Benjamin Bolling or John Bolling had the following children: <paraindent><param>out,out</param> 2 i. Benjamin Bolling was born in 1754. 3 ii. John Bolling was born in 1759. 4 iii. Robert Bolling was born in 1755/56. 5 iv. Joel Bolling was born in 1756. 6 v. David Bolling. 7 vi. William Bolling was born in 1755. 8 vii. Isham Bolling was born in 1760. 9 viii. Levi Bolling. (?) Todd lists a date of 1790 for Levi, which doesn't work. Maybe Levi was a later name in that family. Joel is a name used by the Green family in Montgomery County, NC, as is David. Isham was a VA family also. </paraindent></fontfamily></bigger><paraindent><param>out,out</param> some of these Bolling went to Clay County, Kentucky. Our lineages are into the Greens also, so we are looking for other Green researchers. Ken </paraindent>

    3. Hi Bolling researchers. There is no doubt that we can use all the help we can get on the Bolling families. Wer find in the Pocahontas line of Bolling, evidence, from several researchers which tells us the information in the book Pocahontas' Descendants is wrong. The Powhatan/Rolfe/Bolling subject, is a complex subject, which requires some reading and an understanding of the origins of these documents, and the quality of the documentation involved. For example, we are often told that Thomas Rolfe had one daughter, named Jane, but this is not documentated, nor does it come from a documentated source. There is direct evidence that much of what we know of Thomas Rolfe is confused, and has been miswritten about. No one will question that this information is widely believed to be true. The Crazy Judge, John Robertson, appears to be the major source for this confusion: old John heard voices, and he knew how to a redate a document. A skill one learns on the bench. Quality documentation, are those "primary" sources of information. A primary source is considered to be: deeds, wills, gravesites, court records, bible records, etc. A secondary source is what we read that someone "says" is so. The book Pochaontas' Descendants has no primay sources in it. None, zip. The first edition Preface. They speak of the Cobbs Bible, but admit, in the end, it never was found. They speak, in the Preface, of having two lists at hand, one containing 19 names, but go on to use the other list. And half the dates they did use for birth dates belonged to the Blue Bolling, as found by the Bolling reseacher, Judge Zelma Price. We are putting a Bolling Website Newsletter in place to describe these things, and provide a list of all the know books on the subject. It's my hope we can have an open forum on the subject, and all of us gain from the public input. Ken Poole

    1. Harvey BOLIN
    2. I'm trying to find out the parents (as well as the last known whereabouts - dead or alive) of Harvey Bolin, b. 1872-74 in vicinity of Moore Co., TN. May have been related to Bolins in Lincoln Co. TN or Franklin Co. TN or vicinity. Harvey married Hulda Alma PIERCE about 1895, had two sons, and then "disappears" in 1900. May have gone to Alabama, Texas or Oklahoma - or stayed in TN. We really don't know. Anybody know who his parents were? One old timer said he thought it was a Will Bolin -- but I don't know and haven't found any evidence to support this - or any other parentage, for that matter. Thanks for any help. 3. Judith, I think that Clark may just be a typo. This was on a letter from KYROOTS. Written by Linda C. Manlove<LManlove@AOL.COM> There is more information on the descendants of John Bolling but not Jane. "Robert BOLLING 12-26-1646 (London) to 7-17-1709 Charles City, Va. of All Hallows, Barking Parrish, Tower Street, London. He came to Virginia 10-2-1660 and married (1rst) Jane ROLFE d/o Lt. Thomas ROLFE and Jane POLYTHRESS. They had two children 1. Colonel John BOLLING 1672 m: Mary KENNON 1679-1727 d/o Dr. Richard KENNON and Elizabeth WORSHAM. 2. Jane BOLLING c1674 m: Rev. James CLARK c1655 England" >From the Alan's Genealogy & Chesire, England Page by Alan Rickards at: http://members.tripod.com/~AlanCheshire/index.html?876235222 it says that Robert BOLLING and Jane ROLFE only had one child, John. "Robert married in 1675 to Jane ROLFE. His wife died the next year, 1676, leaving one child, John BOLLING, b January 26/27 1676. Robert then married in 1681 Jane Anne STITH." And I saw the William GAY connection on a Family Tree Maker page http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/f/o/x/Dallas-C-Fox/index.html The Dallas Fox Family Home Page. Generation 12, descendants of Mathias Gebhard It says: "Pocahontas married John ROLFE. They had one son, Thomas ROLFE who married Jane POYTHRESS. They had one daughter, Jane ROLFE, who married Robert BOLLING. They had one daughter, Jane BOLLING, who married Dr. William GAY. They had ten children. One son, Henry GAY, married Margaret RUSSELL. They had ten children. One daughter, Margaret GAY, married James JOHNSON (JOHNSTON). They had ten children. One son, Robert JOHNSON, married Hannah BREWER. They had thirteen children. One daughter, Polly JOHNSON, married Harvey L. FOX. They had eleven children. One son, Walter Evan FOX, married Ruth Margaret ROBERTS. They had two children. The above information was given to me by Mrs. Pearl Fox BYRKET. Pearl indiated this information was held by William Anderson FOX for many years. Signed Jimmy A. FOX" >From Alan's Genealogy page (listed above) it shows Elizabeth BOLLING married Dr. William GAY. It doesn't show who Elizabeth's parents were. The connection is with their daughter Elisabeth GAY who married Thomas BOLLING, son of John BOLLING and Elizabeth BLAIR. It looks like there may be a lot of separating to find out just who belongs to who. I am glad to see that Elizabeth Fleming is a white Bolling. Now I just have to find where to fit her in. 3. Dear Sir or Madam, Hello! My name is Mike Wolf. I am doing Genealogy research on my family heritage. One blood line that I'm working on is the surname Morris (my mothers maiden name). Below I have listed our Morris line as far back as we have been able to research to date. Any information you have on any of these people, or anyone you might be able to add to this blood line would be greatly appreciated. They are all from Ohio, although William Morris may be from or have a connection to Pennsylvania. And Elizabeth Morris maiden name of Munn may have a connection to connecticut. William & Elizabeth settled in the Moreland area of Franklin township in Wayne County Ohio. Some of Thier children moved to the Clinton Township area (Wayne County, Ohio) not far from Shreve in the mid 1800's. Some had a connection to Ripley in Holmes County and Ashland in Ashland County. Again anything pertinent to this blood line would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me by phone, mail or E-mail. Also if you would like more detail for your own genealogy research just give me a call or write me I would be happy to oblige. You also referred to the "Ugly" ones -- I never heard this before your message -- please explain and tell me who the family head is of these so-called "ugly" ones and where this nickname comes from. thanks, Judy M. All the facts, known of the Bolling genealogy, is under serious pressure for change; almost all of what is known come from the book, "Pocahontas' Descendants". Written by the crazy Judge and his brother. All evidence presented by them was found by them. None of it can be supported. Check Judge Zelma Price's writting on the matter, and look at Todd Bolling book, which was an effort to find them all up. In short. The Bolling genealogy has never been written complete with all evidence. Bible, Tombstone, Deeds, Wills. Help us to get it right. Will you? The only absolute fact is this; a Bolling family using the names Powhatan, Rolfe, Meatoaka, used those names before the Ugly bollings did in the early 1700s. That's a fact. We have found these people up, and they check out. Ken

    3. B. Whitney, Judith, et. al., I am interested in the source of your information relative to Jane Bolling. My records show that Jane Bolling who is a daughter of John Bolling and Mary Kennon married Richard Randolph. Jane Bolling who is a daughter of John Bolling, Jr. and Elizabeth Blair married William Hopkins. Elizabeth Bolling married Dr. William Gay. Are my records in error? Later...Fred B. 1. Bowlin/Bolen from Calloway County KY
    2. Researching: Bolin/Bolen/Bowlin(g) in KY,MO,AR,OK,NM My great grandfather, George Cook Bowlin/Bolen b. 1831, Calloway Co. KY d. 1905, Clarksville, OK In 1853, in Marshall County, KY he married Nancy Jane Hargrove b. 1838, Calloway Co., KY and died 1922 in De Baca County, New Mexico. During the Civil War George enlisted in the Confederate Army August 27, 1862 in Ripley County, MO. He was a Pvt. in Co. K 3rd Reg't Missouri Volunteers aka White's Regiment, aka Ponder's Regiment Missouri Volunteers, captured Feb. 27, 1863. I have two documents listing him as a POW, one spells his name Bolen, the other Bowlin, same surnames, sames dates and regiments. He was released from the Gratiot Street Prison, Dec. 10, 1863 after signing the Oath and paying a $1,000 bond. I have not been able to find George's parents. Legend has it that our ancestors were from the Netherlands (the name Bowlin has undergone many spelling changes) and were merchants/farmers/ranchers when they came to America. Here they became Indian Traders in Arkansas, moving to the Indian Territory of Oklahoma and in 1906 to New Mexico. My father, Claude Bowlin (one of George's grandsons) became an Indian Trader in western New Mexico. I would welcome any and all help. There must be some Bowlin's of my family out there. Hope Bowlin McClure
