    1. BOWLIN-[Madison Co,KY/correction/update
    2. I Houdini
    3. It's been a good long while since I posted this query...due in part to spending some time trying to solve several mysteries surrounding this fellow & his family. James Paul BOWLIN b. 11 March 1860 [?Madison Co., KY?] d. 11 Feb 1919 [Madison Co., KY?] married 27 August 1877 to Almeda HILL b. 16 Oct 1863 Madison Co., KY d. 8 Aug. 1936 Madison Co., KY **Note, Almeda was not yet 14 when they married. Garrett Masters, her step- father, signed as bondsman. There should be parental permission listed somewhere, too. Her mother was Rhoda Jane HILL Masters After spending some time brushing up on my Ky History <blush>, I discovered that previous information linking James Paul to KKK incident at White Hall had discrepencies. Also, had been told that James Paul & Cassius Marcellus Clay were *boyhood chums*...Clay was born 1810!!! I have now determined that the incident [abt. 1870-1880] would have involved the father & uncle of James Paul BOWLIN. It is likely that Clay was acquainted with them as children. As I have been unable to find a copy of James' death certificate through Ky. Vital Statistics Dept., I do not yet have his parents names. There is a B. BOWLIN listed on Madison Co. Land Map of 1876 who I believe [hope] could be Blevins BOWLIN. James had a son whom he named Blevins, as did his [James'] son, Frank BOWLIN. James Paul & Almeda BOWLIN were married in 1877, yet their first recorded & verified child was born 9 years later in 1886! These are my husband's g'grandparents and his aunts [those b. between 1912 & 1925] swear there were only 5 children born to James & Almeda [Blevins, Melissa, Lucy, Theresa, Frank] between 1886 and 1893. Does anyone have 1870 Madison Co. census which might list a *B. BOWLIN* and children/also Garrett or Jarret MASTERS with Rhoda & Almeda & another dau., Love or Luvina?? Also interested in finding James & Almeda on 1880 census. **They may be listed in the household of Cassius M. Clay [Cloy] during 1890 census, also. We were told that the BOWLIN'S came from Clay County & stories of *Uncle Bad Eli* came down through the generations, too. Does anyone connect to Clay Co. BOWLIN's who went to Madison Co.?? I'd appreciate any information or clues. Can anyone verify or prove false that B. BOWLIN was Blevins BOWLIN? Thanks for any help, Sandi
