    1. Re: Bolen Family
    2. Hello, I am trying to find information on Willoughby Bolen/Bolin, born l784 in S. C. He is found in Lincoln Co., Tn. on the l820 Census, & then in Marion Co., Ala. on the l830 census. At some point he migrated to Moniteau Co., Mo. & died there in l849. Would like to get in touch with anyone who might be researching this family or if you think there might be a connection to your family. Thanks. Bernadine Teague

    1. Lucinda Bowling update

    3. I'm going to try my BOWLING branch again in light of some new information. If anyone recognizes these names, please contact me. My problem began with LUCINDA BOWLING, born ca 1812, died 11 Apr 1859. On her death record, her parents are listed as JAMES and FRANCES BOWLING. JAMES married ELIZABETH MORRISON in Patrick Co VA in 1801. The death record for JAMES (d 1861) lists his parents as JAMES and SARAH BOWLING. For both LUCINDA BOWLING and her sister, MARY BOWLING ATKINS, their mother's name is listed as FRANCES or FRANKEY. Does anyone know if ELIZABETH MORRISON'S name was ELIZABETH FRANCES MORRISON? I suspect this was the case, but have no proof. LUCINDA, who was my ggggrandmother, never married, but she had two daughters out of wedlock, CATHERINE (my gggrandmother) and SUSAN. CATHERINE'S father, ELISHA ANGLIN, eventually recognized her as his daughter and deeded land to her as a gift. I do not know who SUSAN'S father was. If anyone has any information, confirmed or unconfirmed, about any of these people, please pass it along. Thanks! Shelby

    3. Hello: I am new to the list and have great hopes for tracing my mothers Virginia Kentucky-Bowlins back a ways. I will post a message containing the line later, but I thought there might be some interest in the database below. It is available free for a limited time (10 days). 3. This is probably a better way to ask my question. Joseph, Joel, Jessee, James, David, Lisha, Stephen, Edmund, and Thomas Bowling all lived in Grainger County Tennessee between 1805 and 1810. I know that they didn't all live in the same household. Does anyone know how they were related. I am trying to find out who my Stephen ties into. Does anyone the ages of these Bowlings? Stephen fathered a child in 1810. I don't know his age but he had to be old enough to be a father. 3. It is interesting that you have Bowlin and a Belew getting married way back when. I know of another Bertie Mildred Bowlin married to Lestle Belew, they are both still living and about 60+ years old. Obviously they are in my Bowlin Line, my husband's paternal aunt. I don't have any matches for the other names, and the Bowlin + Belew are just coincidence. Sorry, I cannot make a connection. 1. Lucinda Bowling
    2. Sarah Stevens
    3. Hello Everyone, I am new to the list. My name is Sarah Clark Stevens. I am looking for any info on the family of Lucinda Bowling Sinclair Howard. Lucinda was b. 1814 in Ky. She first m. Alexander Sinclair on 3 July 1831. He d. and she m. Henry F. Howard in New London, Ralls Co., Mo. on 11 March 1836. It is thought that she had a small daughter named Sarah from her first m. and possibly a son. The Howard family moved and had a farm on Big Turnback Creek in Dade Co., Mo. Henry served in the Civil War on the union side. The couple had seven known children named Margaret M., Joseph T., Mary A., Nancy Elizabeth, Lucinda Ann, Dorothy J., and Henry Monroe Howard. Henry d. on 27 Sept. 1872 in Dade Co. Lucinda did receive a widow's pension from the Civil War. It is thought that Lucinda moved from child to child during her last years. It is not known when or where she d. Lucinda Bowling always bragged to her family that she was a descendant of Pocahontas on her red line. She left her daughter Nancy a small side table that she had inherited. Nancy is said to have received a letter from Mrs. Woodrow Wilson requesting the table. It is told that the letter so infuriated her that she burned it. (Mrs. Wilson did prove her line back to Pocahontas. Could this be the same line?) She also claimed to be a cousin of Daniel Boone and told of playing with his children in the attic where he kept a coffin that they played in on rainy days. She claimed to have walked with his children behind his coffin on the way to his burial. Does anyone know of any Bowling/Boone family link? The Bowling Family Ass. and Hardy Bowling (a researcher) have tried to help me. It is thought that Lucinda's father was Daniel Bowling the son of Dulaney Bowling. Dulaney was a son of Benjamin Bowling. I have been unable to definitely prove any of this. Lucinda Bowling was my husband's gggg grandmother. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    3. I have a Nancy BOLENE married to John Callahan in that area ca 1740. Their son, John Callahan, JR was born in 1780 and went to LA where he married Marie Josephine Boudreaux, d/o of Benjamin Hilaire Boudreaux and Anne Elizabeth Ferguseon/Forgassine d/o Anselm/Enselm Fergueson and Anne Urina Barry/Berri. The Fergueson/Forgassine/Fergueseon also came from the Stafford Co area. Benjamin Boudreaux and Anne Fergueseon migrated to South LA too. The trail ends in a brck wall for me on the Bolene, Callahan and Fergueson lines in VA. The Boudreaux family is Acadian/French and I can trace that line back to 1600 France and the BOUDROT family. Would be nice to pick up the trail in VA. I'ts been searched for by some of the best genealogists in LA for over 25 years and they all draw a blank. Rose Webb rosewebb@datasync.com

    3. Is anybody researching Bolling in Sumner Co., TN or Simpson County, KY especially before 1850? I am researching the following line. John and his wife Grizella are listed on the marriage rolls of Sumner County, TN, but on the 1850 census in Simpson County, KY. I suspect their families lived somewhere near the state line. They later moved to Franklin County, IL with a number of people from Jackson/Overton County, TN, then went on to Johnson County, TX. Every record that John appears in, his name is spelled differently, but the family settled on Bowling by the time they get to TX. There is another family in the same area in TX that spells their name Bollin, and they intermarried with the Bowlings, but I am not sure if they are directly connected to this family.
