Once again all, In light of Ernie's posting, I thought I'd throw my James Bowlin out there again. From the Patrick Co, VA death records, I have JAMES BOWLIN, b ca 1770, d 21 Jul 1861. His parents are listed as JAMES & SARAH BOWLIN. His birthplace is listed as Patrick Co, VA also, although at the time of his birth, the area would have been part of Henry Co, VA. He married ELIZABETH MORRISON in 1801 in Patrick Co, VA (her middle name may have been FRANCES). James and Elizabeth had several children, all of whose names I don't know. Two of the daughters were MARY and LUCY. Mary married an Atkins. Lucy never married, although she had two daughters. Two of his sons, I suspect, were WILLIAM GREEN and JAMES LUKE BOWLING. If anyone out there descends from this family, or has BOWLINGS with Patrick/Henry Co, VA connections, please contact me. Thanks! I found a website while surfying... http://www.sunnydaze.com and I found it a wonderful resource tool.... Here is what some of it says: This gentleman spend 35 years researching and tracking his family. While tracking his family, he got side tracked and wrote 10 volumes of tombstone inscriptions in the Shenandoah Valley of VA and two large volumes of marriages in the Valley. Additionally, he collected a monumental amount of informatin on almost everyone sho's path he crossed. He became ill with Alzheimers and confined to a care facility, but, his daughter found and brought all his research to her house. There were over 100 boxes of research. She has placed her father's work on the internet: http://www.sunnydaze.com I have not personal interest in this website; however, I found it and thought it would be a great resource for all of us researchers and am sharing this information with you.... Thanks!!! kaite...

Some time back I wrote: I have D. Bettie Ann BOWLING b June 20, 1866 in TN d January 1, 1939, buried Sumner Co., TN, marrying John Peter SHIRRELL January 8, 1890 also in Sumner Co. Her date of death is new information to me, so I've not obtained her death certificate yet. Would this name be familiar to anyone else researching this line? Now I'm adding: ... Bettie Ann's death certificate lists her mother as Rosa Ann BOWLING (b in VA) - father unknown. Would anyone have a BOWLING marrying a Rosa Ann (Unknown) in TN in the 1800's? Thanks for any help! Mike and JoAnn, You have confused the names. My husbands ancestor was Lemuel Wilkerson, who married Nancy Bowling (found spelled various ways). She was the daughter of Manning Bowling and Mary Mangham/Mangrum. Nancy was born about 1799 in GA. Her known siblings don't include a Lemuel, but could be a cousin. Are you aware of the Bolling Family Association? That should be a big help in researching this family. I have just become aware of it. They have a web site, if you are interested. Maybe we will make a connection at a later date.
