also Julie Anne- I just found a few of my Patrick, Henry & Pittsylvania Cos VA notes. Lela Adams ABSTRACTS OF PITTSYLVANIA CO VA WILLS 1767-1820: p. 5 James BOULLING (BOLLING) p. 383-5. 20 May 1771-24 Sept 1772. Wife Elizabeth Daus & sons JOHN, JAMES, and WILLIAM. William was left land on Boling Creek in Pittsylvania Co VA. Isham Edwards was a witness. Is this family of interest to anyone? I do not know it - just searching for my line. James PLEASANT Bolling, son of John Tarpley Bolling (Todd Bolen's book p. 87)- this was in Judge Zelma Price's line, as I recall. Now another question that may relate to my husband's line: James BOLIN m. 1797 Sarah McKNIGHT in Rowan Co NC (Todd's book p. 91). I have had that note for decades and still do not know that Sarah McKnight nor James Bolin. My husband's David McKnight & brothers James and William moved from Iredell/Rowan Cos. NC to Middle TN around 1800-1804. Lela Adams, ABSTRACTS OF WILLS, INV. & ACC. OF PATRICK CO VA 1791-1823: p. 19 (WB I p. 80) 4 June 1805 - Dec Ct 1805: WILL OF Shadrack GOING: mentions Fanny GOIN wife of Edmund BOWLIN. (Fanny apparently a dau of Shadrack) WHO WAS THIS EDMUND BOWLIN? He is on p. 46 of Todd Bolen's vol 1, 2nd edition. I am interested because Edmund Bolen was in 1810 tax list of Grainger Co TN (see same page Todd's book). My Alexander Bowling was in Grainger Co TN 1804-5 tax list. Later some Goin-Bowling marriages are in Grainger Co TN. I wonder if there is a connection with my Alexander Bowling's line. There was a Rev. War soldier Edmond Boling (b. ca 1760 - see p. 45 of Todd's book) in Greene Co TN m. 1817 to Polly Bryant. Had 6 young sons named in his will. Was this the EDMUND, son-in-law of Shadrack GOIN? If so, who were his earlier children, if any? (I sent Leslie a copy of pension application recently) Lots of questions. Any answers??? Helen
Julie Anne- "Valley Leaves" is the quarterly publication of the Tennessee Valley Genealogical Society, Inc. P. O. Box 1568; Huntsville, AL 35807-0567. I edited vols. 7 & 8 early 1970s. It has published since ca 1966 and is still going strong. Find it on the Internet through ALGENWEB, Madison Co. St. Clair, Etowah & Jefferson Cos. AL are south & slightly east of Madison Co. Lawrence & Franklin are west of Madison Co. AL. You probably picked up my note on my Bolling article recently. My Bowlings were in Madison & Lawrence Cos. AL. My article (ca 1971 on Bollings in Al with VA connections) was about descendants of Stith and Charlotte Edmunds Bolling of Nottoway Co VA who settled Madison, Limestone, Lawrence, and Morgan Cos. AL. Or maybe it was the article about my Alexander Bowling (1781-1843) group in Lawrence Co AL (ca 1970 article) Helen ---------- > From: MAWJAW <MAWJAW@aol.com> > To: BAKER_BOLIN-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [BAKER_BOLIN-L] Re: JAMES BOWLIN ca 1770-1861 > Date: Friday, May 01, 1998 8:48 PM > > Where can I find this book, the Valley Leaves? > Can anyone tell me if there is a Bolling Family Book that is printed and that it may be purchased Yes, for the BO*L*N*s in the US before 1800. The author is Todd Bolen, who might be on this list. If he doesn't post about it you could check his web site, http://members.aol.com/ToddBolen/index.html Carol Botteron (that's French Swiss) botteron@ai.mit.edu (BOWLIN(G) of Lee Co. VA)
Please get rid of the awful red background! It is very distracting and annoying and painful.
