    3. Folks, there is LOTS of SC data in the SC Archives reached through the USGENWEB Archives search engine. The data CANNOT BE USED to sell. (Non-commerical entities ONLY - free exchange, for us trying to find our families but NOT to sell what we find) LOTS has been donated by Paul R. Sarrett, Jr. (who I had never heard of before, sorry, Paul.) It is amazing what he has posted! LOTS of SC marriages, for example (NOT MY FAMILY - though it takes a long time to scan the data & I may have missed something) One thing he has posted is 1779 (Tax List???) Old 96 Dist SC (but no township or county or area). That list is not too long & I do not know that I can post it here, but I found BOULAND, BOWIE, BOWLIN, BOWMAN. Check it out. Helen

    3. After several Laurens Co SC wills on our lists, someone, Ken maybe, suggested we work on this county. I think it's a good place to start. I have some census records (from printed works - have NOT looked at census films on this county for ANY year). 1790 "Heads of Households" 96 Dist, Laurens Co SC (from book pp. 71, 72, 73, 76 - I do NOT have pp. 74 and 75 and do not know if any Bolin spellings are on those pages). Free White males 16 & up FW males under 16 FW females BOWLING, Abel 2 3 2 BOLAR, Peter 1 1 2 BOWMAN, Josiah 2 1 3 BISHOP, Bowling 1 (first name Bowling) 4 2 BOWLING, Samuel 2 3 5 ROWLING, Richard 1 4 3 ROWLAND, Christopher 1 1 4 ROWLAND, William 1 3 4 BALDWIN, Thomas 3 2 5 Remember, I do NOT have pp. 74 & 75. Will add later when I can check them, unless someone else will do so now. Also ALWAYS check to see that what I have (or anyone else has) done is CORRECT, if possible. If I erred, please post the correction! I know Rowling/Rowland is NOT "Bowling" - but everyone did not always read the handwriting the same, and the enumerators (& clerks) wrote what THEY thought they heard, and how they spelled it. SOMETIMES the first & last names are reversed - hence "Bowling Bishop" on my list. Hope this helps, more census records (printed) to follow. Helen

    2. Hi Janet! The name Archibald is prominent in my BOWLING line, but have not gotten as far back as you (wishful thinking!!) I have an address for a WASH researcher in Richmond, VA if you would like me to send it. It is no connection to my line, but a personal friend with the last name of WASH! : ) Let me know, and Happy Hunting! Julie Anne

    1. Archibald Bolling Baugh, ca 1791-1876, VA>MO
    2. Bowling/Bolling Researchers: I am seeking the parents of Archibald Bolling BAUGH, b. ca 1791 in Virginia (exact location unknown). Archibald B. Baugh married Caroline WASH (became WALSH in Mo) in February 1827 in Powhatan Co. according to VA marriage records. Caroline was recorded as daughter of Lipscomb Wash. The couple had five children between 1828 and 1836 when they departed Amelia Co for Lawrence Co Mo. The children were Benjamin B., Amaliza Middy "Eliza", Mariah Boland "Prissy", Sarah F., and Andrew Jackson. Two more were born in Mo, George Henry and William Edward. Archibald Bolling Baugh lived in Amelia Co before he moved to Mo. Once in Missouri he used Boland or Bolen as spellings for his middle name (a change that I understand is experienced by many of your ancestors) Records have also shown a John Bolling Baugh in conjunction with Archibald in Amelia Co. We are speculating that perhaps Archibald's mother was a Bolling, or a similar close relative (although it could of course just be a favorite next door neighbor). We have no information on brothers or sisters. Bollings and Baughs appear in many of the same counties in that area (Cheserfield, Henrico, Dinwiddie, Nottoway, Amelia and Powhatan to name a few). Other family names that come frequently in to play are Batte, Walthall, Worsham, Eppes, Dupuy, Cary, Eggleston, to name a few. There are Worshams, Battes, Carys, Egglestons in the Lawrence Co area, so we are speculating that he may have followed others from that area of VA to Missouri. He and his family travelled with a Samuel Whipple m. Mariah Wash (Walsh). I have visited as many of the Bolling and Baugh sites on the internet, and see these names crossing over one another with the names above and more but no Baugh/Bolling connection and no mention of my Archibald Bolling Baugh on anyone else's family trees. I have found Archibald Baughs and Archibald Bollings in the right vicinity frequently. I have not, however, had the week or so I think it would take with my slow computer to thoroughly go through the extensive R Bolling Batte Papers on the Library of Virginia Digital Reading Room, which I found referenced on this list last year (and which I highly recommend). I did go through all of the Baughs and Archibald Bolling. I did some cross checking and many of the people mentioned on one card do not have a card of their own. So my Baugh could be mentioned in a Bolling will. Also I remember my now deceased Aunt saying we were related to Pocahontas. Do any of you Bollings have any Baugh connections out there??? Any suggestions? I have information on the descendants of Archibald Bolling Baugh to share. Thank you in advance. Janet (Baugh) Hunter. Alexandria, VA
