Both of these messages intrigue me. While I can only prove part of what I wish to put forward, I would also like to add some conjecture for you to ponder. I can prove that Elizabeth Dyer married.............Bowling. She was the daughter of William and Nancy Hurst Dyer. The Dyers were in Greenbrier and Montgomery Counties Virginia prior to going into Kentucky in the 1790s. That the Dyers knew the Fugates is easy to prove because the Fugates often acted as witnesses to various legal instruments. Also Mary or "Polly" Dyer married a Crotchett. It CONJECTURED that the Crotchett mother was Patience Fugate bd ca 1770. Provable.The Dyer, Bowling, Crotchett, Rowe, Salisbury, Wood, Kelly (all siblings) resided in Livingston County Kentucky ca 1810-1815. The Bowling family stayed, as did the Kelly, Rowe, Wood, and some Crotchetts. Patience Crotchett remarried William Redkins who had land on the Cumberland River in Smith County Tennessee ca 1806, prior to removing to Illinois where he is listed on the 1818 state census, the 1820 census. Patience Redkins is listed on the 1830 census and is in the household of her son, John Crotchett, in the 1840 census. Her will is recorded in Pope County Illinois. Crotchett siblings are James, Harriett, John, William, and I think a couple more girls. Patience Fugate was administratrix for her father and she was unmarried at the time. She had a sister, but I do not remember her name. Patience Fugate would be about the right age to be the Patience who married the Crotchett. They would have resided in Tennessee during which time the children were born. James and John claim they were born in North Carolina, the rest state Tennessee. I CONJECTURE that no one moved. But the state line moved. I would like to hear from you after you have had an opportunity to think about all these things. I have a very elusive William Bowling (spelling may vary) who married Roda Williams. Daughter Rachel Bowling was born 26 Nov 1832 in Lee County, VA and died 15 Dec 1915 in Hart Co., KY. Other children may have been Candis, Ellen, Jane, Lovice, Milant, Riley and Jack. This information came from Rachel's death certificate and a letter written about her by her grand-daughter. The letter does state that all of her family lived far away (location is not stated) and that only one of her siblings ever visited her. And, of course, our family, like most of yours, has the Pocahontas tradition as part of our Bowling tradition. I am new to the list and have just sent in three FGSs of our Bolin family. I descend from three Bolin lines and my wife from one (so my children descend from four). I have more details about our Bolins in my web database "Our Ancestors" at the address in my signoff signature. These three Bolins, Wm, James, and Jesse are related to Benjamin Bolin, they are either sons or brothers (probably sons). I have a poor quality photo of the grave of John Banister and Mary Bolling at Blanford Cemetary, Petersburg VA. and another poor quality Photo of a roadside marker about Col. Can anyone tell me about the decendants of William Bolling m. Amelia Randolph? I think that I have just pieced together my Bowling puzzle and the trail ends with William Bolling!
