Starting in January of 2006, the author, Dan W. Geister of River Falls began working on this project. The project is the result of the author's search through county newspapers from 1855 to the present, county records, family histories and other documents that have been shared. Beldenville became a booming mill town, which at its height boasted 7 saw mills, which supported numerous other businesses after the railroad came through Beldenville in 1885. During its height, Beldenville's population reached over 800 inhabitants. Beldenville has remained a vibrant community to the present. Pat Mory, Ellsworth secretary of the Pierce County Historical Association has supplied the historical account of the Omaha Railroad which ran from Hudson, through River Falls and Beldenville, to East Ellsworth from 1885 until 1966. Other chapters include the history of Beldenville businesses, the five area schools (Beldenville, Forestville, Maynard, Fairview and Morton Corner), two churches, two cemeteries, civic groups and organizations, the rich farming history, village celebrations, gathering places and dance halls and modern Beldenville. The book also details 92 family histories of the Beldenville area. The book is 272 pages long, with over 220 photographs. [Cost available on request]. They are available at: The Pierce County Historical Association office in Ellsworth (in the basement of the village hall 273-6611, Brian's Repair in Beldenville, Freeman Drug Store in River Falls and from the author, Dan Geister (651-260-6220 or at [email protected]). Other histories from the Pierce County Historical Association are still available for sale - they include books on Mann Valley, El Paso Township, Martell Township, Prescott, Cherma and River Falls. The Primary names covered in this book are: Angel, Baird, Baker, Beardsley, Belden, Bennett, Blodgett, Boles, Bowman, Bredahl, Brimmer, Brown, Bunce, Carpenter, Carr, Chappel, Clonts, Close, Collins, Coon, Cooper, Cope, Dale, Daniels, Davidson, Doolittle, Dopkins, Eaton, Edwards, Ensign, Fenton, Fitzpatrick, Floody, Foss, Gibbs, Gilbertson, Goldsmith, Grant, Greeley, Haberstich / Harvester, Hall, Heacox, Helmer, Hobbs, Howe, Hunter, Junkman, Keyser, LaGrander, Larson, Locke, Mann, Maynard, McCutcheon, McEwen, Merriman, Moe, Morton, Northup, Odell, Ottman, Parmeter, Patterson, Pike, Rasmus, Reed, Reynolds, Rich, Richardson, Rounce, Salton, Sawyer, Severance, Shade, Snow, Stoetzel, Tann, Teubert, Thing, Thurston, Tomlinson, Travis, Vanderford, Wagner, Walker, Walters, Warn, Weston, and Zarbock.
