Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Johnny Anderson, James Blair, Jim Boles, C. Nichols, Dan Phillips, Joe Ridgell, Don Sides and Lynn Turner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifton Alexander, John Barkley, Larry French, Marvin Hart, Tommy Panter, Randy Reed and Jody Thompson. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008 at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. Mr. Harper died Tuesday morning, March 4, 2008 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs TX. Jim Harper was born January 3, 1916 in Hopkins County,TX the son of Robert Elliott and Amanda Sartin Harper. He met and married Gladys Fuller while attending college at East Texas State University. After teaching school a few years, he rec! eived his Master's degree in education from the University of Arkansas. He returned to Texas and taught in Mt Pleasant, Yantis and then moved to Abilene. He retired in 1977 after teaching chemistry, biology and physics for over 35 years. After the death of his first wife in Abilene,TX he married Lanora Siler-Patterson-Cawyer November 23, 1979. They relocated to Sulphur Springs TX in 1982. He and Lanova have been active members at League Street Church of Christ. Lanora survives. Other survivors include his children: son, Justin Harper and wife Beatrice of Las Cruces, New Mexico; daughter, Patricia Ford and husband, Tom, of Queen Creek, Arizona; son, Larry Harper and wife Debbie, of Victoria, Texas; stepson, Lewis Patterson and wife Rama of Tampa, Florida; step-daughter, Patty Morrison of Wichita Falls, Texas; step-son Fred Cawyer and wife Carol of Rowlett, Texas; sister, Mona Tomasyne Echols of Cooper, Texas; and 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are u! nder the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
