Bowles, Spurlington Community of Taylor County, son of Hayden Bowles, Sr., and Alma Phillips Bowles, was born in Taylor Co., February 18, 1908. He died at his home Tuesday, the 27th after an extended illness. He was 60 years of age. He professed faith early in life and was a member of the Spurlington United Methodist Church, was a Mason, and was a member of the Pitman Lodge 124 F & AM. He was past Master of the Pitman Lodge and past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star of Campbellsville. He was maintenance supervisor of the Taylor County Schools before his retirement six months ago. He was married to Miss Christine Lowe, August 6, 1932 and to this union two daughters and one son were born: Mrs. Robert "Virginia Lois" Phillips of Glouster, Ohio; Mrs. John W. "Peggy Joyce" Price, Route 4, Campbellsville and V. K. Bowles, Jr. of Louisville. He also leaves ten grandchildren; his father, Hayden Bowles, Sr.; three brothers, Floe, Elizabethtown; Hayden, J! r., of Route 6, Campbellsville, and Ray of Route 2, Campbellsville. Services will be held today (Thursday), August 29, in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with the Revs. Carlos Coop, Dawson Springs and Clarence Bertram and Dr. R. L. McDonald officiating. Interment will be in Brookside with Masonic rites. Pallbearers will be: Sam E. Phillips, Lawrence James, Herman Hubbard, Ray Reeves, Theodore Cowherd, and Bruner Wade.
