Bowles and Mrs. Mary L. Roots Bowles, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, February 15, 1871. He died at the Rosary Hospital in Campbellsville at 7:15 a.m., Monday, February 13th after being admitted Saturday night. He was 95. He professed faith in Christ early in life and was the oldest member of the Palestine Baptist Church. He was married to Miss Florence Swafford, December 25, 1895. She preceded him in death May 12, 1951. To this union one son and one daughter were born. Surviving is Miss Stella Bowles at home on Route 2. Besides his daughter, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14th in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home by Rev. C. W. Devine and Rev. Marshall Black. Burial in Palestine Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jesse Sullivan, Elwood Kessler, David Garnett, Bob Fawcett, John O. and Owsley Smith.
