Born June 24, 1912 in Jackson, KY, she was the daughter of James and Millie (Freeman) Bowles. Mrs Combs retired from the Lazarus Department Store in 1977 after 27 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eaton. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Darlene Combs of West Alexandria; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Fred Durkel of West Alexandria; five grandchildren, Steve Combs, Doug Combs, Rob Durkle, all of West Alexandria, Debra Bennett of Eaton and Peggy Ludwig of West Carrollton; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Hacker of Manchester, KY; and one brother, Merida Hacker of Lexington, KY. She was preceeded in death by two sisters, Hadie Gray and Gladys Webb; and a brother, Charles Bowles. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Thursday September 14 at Lindhoff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, with the Rev Fred ! Hill officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria. The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Wednesday, September 13 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to West Alexandria Emergency Squad or to the First Baptist Church in Eaton. Hattie was married to Winfred Ervin Combs, s/o Samuel Preston Combs and Martha Bratcher.
