Dear Brenda, Thanks so much for the material you sent. You must be a night owl, like me. I suspected some of the connections that you have might be correct, but had no proof and no solid information. I will look the information over and send you what I have on the same individuals tomorrow. I can tell you that Nelson Bowles, Sr., son of John, was married twice. His first wife, Elizabeth Strozier, died about 1833 in Meriwether--last time I was at GA archives I copied from microfilm the information about her estate. Nelson Sr. was of course her executor. I am descended from his second wife Sarah Elizabeth Reid, through their son, my great-grandfather, Andrew Jackson "Jack" Bowles, b. 1840 d. 1913 in Meriwether Co. I knew Andrew Jackson Bowles' second wife, who was my great-grandmother, Emma Margaret Evans Bowles. She died in 1953 when I was age 11. His first wife was Sarah Elizabeth Robertson or Robinson. I guess I have the Bowles DNA in me, but would not know how to get it tested, or where. I will also give some adjusted dates on the descendants of Nelson Bowles Sr. that I know about, when I search my records tomorrow. Thanks again. Most charts place Nelson Bowles as a son of John Bowles (wife unknown) who appeared in GA around the end of the 1700s. I am interested in this John Bowles because I think he may be part of my Bowles line from North Carolina. The connection comes through what I know about a William Bowles who served in the Revolutionary War with my ancestor, Benjamin Bowles who died in Montgomery Co. NC in 1844. I have records that shows a very close relationship between this William Bowles (m. Sally Biven in NC) and my Benjamin. John Bowles, father of Nelson, arrived in GA about the same time as William and owned land in the same general area (the Wilkes/Green Co. area), so there is a suggestion that these two guys were related. There also was a Jesse Bowles living in this area of GA. I have records showing a Jesse Bowles who served along with William and Benjamin in the NC line, Revolutionary War. This could be the same Jesse. I can share with you what I have. Maybe you could use my information to further your research. I will copy below what I have on John Bowles (with warning that my chart comes from other sources and I can't vouch for its reliability). You will see that I only have wife Elizabeth Dozier in my chart. Is it possible that you know a living male descendent of your Bowles line? It would be really useful if we could get your line into the Bowles DNA project. My line has already been tested, so if you have someone who could be tested we might find a match.
