Earliest ancestors I know are Nelson BOWLES, Sr., b. about 1801, d. after 1860, and wife Sarah Elizabeth REID, b. about 1806, d. between 1850 and 1860. He may also have been married to Elizabeth STROZIER. His household appears in Merewether Co. GA censuses for 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860. I am descended from Nelson and Sarah Elizabeths son Andrew Jackson BOWLES, b. 17 May 1840 in Meriwether Co., GA, d. 6 April 1913 in Meriwether Co. He m. first, about 1868, Sarah Elizabeth ROBERTSON, b. about 1845, d. between 1880-1890. He then m. 10 July 1890 in Meriwether Co. Emma Margaret EVANS, b. 2 February 1866 in Meriwether Co., d. 11 Sept. 1953 in Atlanta. Emma was daughter of Elijah EVANS, Sr. b. about 1790, d. before 1880, and his second wife Martha Jane GODFREY, b. about 1845, d. after 1880. My grandmother was Myrtle Lee BOWLES, daughter of Andrew and Emma Margaret, b. 4 August 1893 in Meriwether Co., d. 15 Sept. 1947 in Jacksonville, FL. Myrtle m. 13 Sept. 1914 in Meriwether Co.
